New product for stitches

I just saw this new thing called ZipStitch. Itís for smaller cuts but the website does show it on a larger area. If anything itís very useful for any first aid kit. https://zipstitch.us/

Zap straps for skin. The are neat but seem like they are a bit bulky compared to steri strips.

Ow $20 for a 1.5 inch cut, does look less painful than sewing yourself up.

Well the cost isnít great. I thought it was good for cuts to the hand like do something to my dominant hand, I canít stitch with the other hand?

I'd imagine a gaping wound spraying blood everywhere would make those sticky pads not stick very well. This is what's wrong with our kids, they're whiny babies afraid to get stitches. SMH

These are easier for doctors, nothing to do with whiners.

Speaking of Drs. son works in a hospital and when he left today there were 93 people in emergency. They had 30 in the ER rooms, 30 in the overflow hall way and the rest in another room set up with just chairs. One woman came in with a bleeding hang nail. stayed and waited 2 Hrs for treatment. Others walked in looked around and left. Can you imagine what it would look like if corona hit. He said their emergency room has been like this for a month.

Some days the emergency is jammed full and some days its only half full. There never seems to be any consistency at the hospital I work at. When this virus hits full on I imagine it will be overflowing.

cute. but it won't replace the crazy glue and tape in my kit.

These are excellent for people who don’t have the experience or ability to stitch. A teenager who knows how to stop the bleeding with compression and clean the wound could close it up with these.

sure glad we have butterfly stitches and cat gut. (thanks mom)

Open wounds with a lot of bleeding.

Use bleed stop.

http://www.bleedstop.com/

clean with betadine after the bleeding has stopped

Then close with steri strips.

Then cover with a 2x2 or 4x4 Sterile dressing.

And see a doctor.

Who will likely tell you that you did just the right thing and give you antibiotics.

i am a retired EMT and have had this happen a number of times.
