Don't buy anything remington

It was just brought to my attention that Tapco, DPMS, and Bushmaster are ALL out of business, shuttered by their parent company, Remington arms.

Remington said in a press release that they are concentrating more on the "sporting" (AKA Fudd) guns.

"Remington Outdoor Company informed RSR at the SHOT Show that they will be focusing on their core hunting and shooting brands Ė AAC, Barnes, Marlin and Remington. Bushmaster, DPMS, StormLake Barrels and Tapco will no longer be produced, with the exception of the Bushmaster BA50."

TTAG spoke to a Remington representative who said the direction on the brands isnít clear at this point and they were emphasizing sporting-directed firearms from Remington and Marlin at the SHOT Show."

Remington, if you were REALLY concentrating on your fudd guns I wouldn't have to hunt for an antique 336 if I wanted a good Marlin.

This SCREAMS Bloomburg and Soros money to me.

So why do you think they have sidetracked those product lines.....??? My guess is that it is your fault that they are not producing those products at this time. Exactly how many thousand Bushmaster AR-15 firearms did you purchase last year...???

DisgruntledPatriot 02-22-2020 07:39 PM

Couldn't POSSIBLY be because there is an election against ANOTHER presidential socialist candidate coming up, virtually guaranteeing another run on black guns and large profit.

sarcasm.

I'll bet the folks at Palmetto State Armory are jumping up and down for joy, though.

Only have one, a 1986 model 700. Well the only parts that are Remington are the receiver , bolt and trigger assy. So its not really a Remington any more.
Will never buy another any firearm new. That paper is just to heavy to carry around.

Lakota 02-22-2020 08:32 PM

Could be fudd virtue signalling. Could be they can't compete. Feels like a little of both. Either way they don't make anything I want and there's plenty of other legit 2A friendly companies happy to take the business.

Bob3rd 02-22-2020 08:34 PM

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the decision wasn't based on companies like Dicks, walmarts and others refusing to sell those guns.

AlphaSierraCharlie 02-22-2020 08:37 PM

The AR-15 market is saturated to the point that it may be better for Remington to leave that market and focus on improving quality control. Like producing Marlin lever guns that don't suck. Or it could be virtue signaling.

Justme11 02-22-2020 08:52 PM

Well, that isn't good.
I have a DPMS and sort of like it. It would be nice to be able to get parts for it if needed.

Eagle Scout Survivor 02-22-2020 08:58 PM

Never did care for Remington guns. Nothing original or different from their competitors.

First thought was all those sks rifles can breath a sigh of relief that they won't get "customized."

But it would suck if they quit making tapco magazines. They worked surprisingly well for the AK and SKS for a cheap price.

hanzy4200 02-22-2020 09:38 PM

I probably own 40 guns. Other than a used 870 I purchased, I don't think I own any Remington's. Oh, and a 700 SPS Tac.

bilmac 02-22-2020 11:23 PM

Doesn't seem to make much business sense to close down AR factories when AR sales are booming.

spacemanspiff 02-23-2020 12:08 AM

I have a speed master .22 , a few shotguns and a 243 Remington. The oldest is a 1947 to 49 12 ga. The newest is at lip east 30 years old. I still love the speed master. I used the use a .22 case for my targets when I was young and could see. I have no use for the newer guns. Ar type guns are more accurate than I will ever be now.

That's a good starter kit.

I am a die-hard Remington man. My latest M700 BDL is 15 years old. My oldest 700 BDL will shortly see its 47th brithday. The oldest in the collection, a Model 722, dates back to before I was born.

Remington has been crap for decades. Ever since they started making guns that would fire as you took the safety off. Screw them. They make nothing that others don't do better.

Nobody is buying bushmasters. They are buying $350 parts guns.

Kymudder08 02-23-2020 02:14 AM

Dpms and bushmaster were terrible ARs anyways, at least the post-Remington ones

You donít have to buy dpms AR15 parts to fix your gun. Unless itís one of those cheap carbon15s then parts arenít proprietary

Just maybe they’re cutting non profitable brands and concentrating on the profitable brands?

steve marshall 02-23-2020 05:31 AM

Let me get this straight. In a Capitalistic Society, OP takes umbrage that Remington is presumably cutting their losses? May as well go Central Planning and FORCE them to sell what WE want.

DPMS is now out of business?

I didn't know that.

Thanks for the heads up.

Is Remington still going to provide thier version of the MSR AR10, or stick to manual cycled action rifles only?

Because the decision is likely more to comply with political pressures than anything related to profitability.
They are based in New York.
