The Obama regime has proven its bun boy status with regard to Iran.
Threaten Iran? You mean like letting them take sobbing sailors hostage? Letting their drones buzz our aircraft carriers?
Why are they doing this? Is it just to make their government look like something approaching actual men instead of the depraved moslem goat lovers that they really are?
Do you remember the story about the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dike?
That's Obama.
He's trying to put off a confrontation with Iran until some undetermined point in the future, to avoid a confrontation with Iran immediately.
We give them access to ****loads of money. They don't immediately develop a viable nuclear weapon.
Caveats on both sides: (Theirs) A significant amount of the money was theirs to begin with. It was in US banks, and was frozen after 09/11/2001 attacks. So we gave them access to their own money that we'd been keeping away from them.
(Ours) At best this is simply a delaying mechanism, for two basic reasons: First, we're talking about technology that is more than 70 years old. Trinity occurred in July 1945. As of July, 2015, over the preceding 70 years the mechanisms involved with producing nuclear warheads have become very well known. We're not going to stop them from crossing the nuclear threshold forever. Second, Iran isn't giving up the means with which to produce nuclear material (i.e. their massive centrifuge facilities and capacity - which is how you enrich uranium). They're basically agreeing not to produce it *at this time* (and submit to some IAEA verification).

What this basically does is reduce the likelihood that the Israelis will strike Iran, thereby making a very messy Middle East much, much messier.
It also puts Iran in a position where it can "talk" to the US, which is what they wanted. It achieves these things without a huge financial sacrifice on the part of the US, except we now must deal with a group of people who are among the most annoying, deliberately rude, manipulative, conniving, ruthless, and psychotic theocracies on the planet.
Was it worth it?
Hell, who knows. One small fact is probably true: An Iran without a nuclear weapon right this minute is probably better than an Iran WITH a nuclear weapon right this minute. The future will suck either way, but for the moment a non-nuclear Iran is probably worth putting up with their crap for at least the short term...until we can get this Islamic State thing figured out.
