Damn, really ?

Lets say some catastrophy hit your area and you find starving families picking your pears left and right, how many of them are you going to shoot?

Or is that a situational call ?
everything is situational my friend.

and since no one will play out the same i can't say that they will all receive the same outcome but a family I would most likely talk to them see what there situation is and offer them to stay with us and help us farm the land I am all for making friends

I can be compassionate but there are principles i won't allow to be violated (I will make exceptions for some mitigating circumstances )

no but id grab em by the ears and walk em to there parents and demand restitution and a promise if there ever there again ill press charges

children are not to cognizant of a lot of things and there parents are responsible for there actions if there between 15+ tho its game on
Not for nothing, but if most of the people on here are about old fashion government and values. Then, kids being kids should be the same. Just saying. At one time, kids used to be like Tom Sawyer.

And that my friend is called Good Judgment. I knew there was a reason you were all right in my book.
Good judgment is what the homeowner in this article lacked.

Funny , that is the answer I expected, from you.
And yet I think FarmerJohns answer will be much different.
Guess I'm getting too predictable, I'm going to have to change my game up :p

Honestly, I'm not a very trusting person when it comes to people I don't know. My trust is like my respect. It's not given out until tarnished, it's earned. SHTF, I just feel it would be unwise to trust people I don't know. And when I think SHTF I think of an all out SHTF.

If it boils down to my family or another family, I'll choose mine every time.

I have no problem with that hell I got into plenty of trouble as a kid but the thing is its intent back then it was more harmless mischief now it is much more malicious in its intent

just like theres a difference between playing baseball and accidentally nocking out a window and just going out and busting a window

both are same result but with different consequences like I said id most likely take them to there parents but if they were older children i.e. 15+ and there just stomping the pumpkins in the patch that is malicious where as a 6 yr old might just think its funny to watch them squish not knowing much about property rights and the like

You couldn't change your game up and fool me Obsidian.
You would react to quickly to stimuli, that in itself can be dangerous friend, I say that from your responses that I read.

Living on the streets as a teenager taught me a lot of things about people, but more importantly situational awareness and physical violence. I know you because I have been you. Hell, I watched one brother gut another over a buck fifty.

A buck fifty.....

Honestly, I'm willing to admit that how I react could possibly change from what I believe I would do as I sit here and ponder the situation. Because of course every situation is different. The family stealing the pears might look different in reality than they do in my head picturing them. And depending on the situation of the disaster and of my preps.

When I am thinking of this situation, I'm thinking that the pears on the tree were considered part of prepping. And I liken it to people walking up to my front door and taking my canned goods like they are looting a supermarket.

I'm going to be thinking about my family, and they will always come first. That doesn't mean I'm going to be heartless, but the entitled masses will think anyone who has food should feed them. I'm not thinking about neighbors starving and taking food from far off that I just have extra of, I'm thinking of Hurricane Katrina scum trying to loot my land like they looted all the Walmarts and such.

Yeah, that's insane.

Killing for a freaking pear?! Really?! You guys are messed up. Take the pairs and get off my property would have been sufficient. When was the last time you you ate a pear off the tree? I do hate thieves, and burglars. I will shoot them in my house without questions. But some one getting an apple off my tree? Naaa, I hope they enjoy it. I can't eat them all.

See this is an why I have no issue when these old threads get dug up (unlike the bodies of fruit thieves that should be left in their shallow graves forever).

Three days or three years makes no difference to me when one of these gems gets resurrected.

Night of the Living Dead Thread.

Dont worry people, based on the current climate, if SHTF you all will be shot for much less than a potted plant apparently.
