Yes, however the ukraine has everything to put a nuke together in less than a day. There are stockpiles of weapons grade plutonium and uranium, the nuclear scientist are still there in the ukraine. Not to mention ukraine has advanced long range missiles.

Russia warns ukraine not to sell advanced long range missile technology.
http://www.themoscowtimes.com/news/...om/news/article/russia-warns-ukraine-against-missile-technology-sale/497707.htm

The ukraine has decommisioned nuclear artillery shells still on hand, they are still sitting in wharehouses in the ukraine. Its not hard to put one back into commission. In the 90s there was a huge effort to maintain and repair the nuclear missile silos, which the USA took part in.

So literally the ukraine has nuclear weapons. Just as anyone who has a gun just has to put ammo in it. Got missile, add nuke warhead.
I didn't know any of that. Well that sure is a game changer.

China and Russia are in an Alliance

I read an article where the reporter didn't even seem to catch the importance of it, After Obama's call with Putin, Putin called China's President before he would comment on the coming summit in Geneva. If Russia was still coming.
I have suspected this for a while and now I am pretty certain they have an unannounced Alliance and I highly doubt our government has figured this out, they didn't even suspect Putin would invade Crimea.

Somehow I have hard time believing it.
In 2012 "the 19 kilograms (42 pounds) of spent highly enriched uranium, was the last such material to be removed from the ex-Soviet republic under a two-year programme with the United States and Russia."
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/25/us-nuclear-ukraine-idUSBRE82O06I20120325

That means now Ukraine "operates several civilian nuclear reactors, but lacks a reprocessing facility to enhance its reactor fuel to bomb-grade quality. The country does possess natural uranium, but not the centrifuges needed for its enrichment. "
http://time.com/21934/ukraine-crimea-russia-nuclear-weapons/

So, it will be at least couple years before Ukraine will get nuclear weapons.

Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk states, "The agreement between the United States and the Soviet Union envisages the elimination of 130 nuclear warheads in Ukraine. But we have counted 176 of them. We want to include another 46 warheads into the agreement and hope to get rid of the most part our nuclear weapons by 2000"
Ukrainian President Kravchuk tells parliament that the missiles deployed in Ukraine threaten Ukraine’s future as an independent state because the missiles are under Russian control and could become grounds for Russian interference in

I think it's that he wants to recreate a Russian Empire that is considered equal to the United States. He feels we make the rules and break them when we want, and he's right. We do. We have lied to Russia on many things and Putin isn't a Politician. He's a former KGB agent. He was raised and indoctrinated to hate the west especially the United States. This could get really ugly, real fast. This area has fueled more wars than I can count. Both World Wars kicked off in the Baltic's. One because of a assassination and the other when the Nazi's invaded Poland.

PS what about their port in Syria?
Actually the first World War started (as you said as an assasination) in Sarajevo which is currently in Bosnia and Herzegovina that was a part of Yugoslavia before the break up.

What is happening in the ukraine army is that soldiers are leaving and joining the russian army this is specially happening in the crimea. Also all money in the bank belonging to citizens from crimea has been frozen can only be acessed if the citizen applies for refuge status in the ukraine same for pensions. Now there are many people in crimea bc of this can not buy medicine or have surgery done.
Just thought i would throw this in to show that ukraine is also not so nice
Frozen assets dilemma has been taken care of more than a month ago. Russia is replenishing those people's accounts with its own money if they make an application and provide their account information. As far as medicine is concerned, the hospitals are being renovated and new equipment is being shipped and installed in themas we speak. If somebody in Crimea needs an advanced treatment done they are being sent to the mainland if those services are unavailable in Crimea right now. There are two ways to get medical help in Russia today: One can either get it in a government or a privately owned facility. If you opt for the first, many procedures and medications are provided at no cost. People don't have to buy an insurance in order to be treated in a govt owned facility unlike in some other countries.

It's certainly worth mentioning the armed Russian soldiers and whip wielding Cossacks standing on every corner during the polls. 97% is a bit spooky if you ask me. Regardless of what the Crimean's want, there is still no way that any freedom loving American should support Putin's actions. And a lot of Americans seem to.

Ukraine might be full of loons, but to trade that for Putin? No thank you.
Check out this video on Crimean elections if you got a minute. It *may* change your mind just a bit.

I understand your general position on the issue, nevertheless, keep one thing in mind and that is the proliferation of NATO alined countries in Europe since the disintegration of the Soviet Union. Russia is trying to stop that trend and prevent further NATO advances towards its territory. Do you personally believe that major powers of this world have that unwritten right to project their influence outside of their immediate borders and to have that buffer zone so that the other countries that may differ in ideology could not come too close and pose a direct threat?

Two of the main reasons we won the past two world wars in Europe is because France and Britain wore them out for us and we went in for the knockout punch.
Do you think France wore the Germans out in the second one more than the Soviet Union did? If you do, you really need to expand your horizons. I can see those worn out Germans in the brothels of Paris from here..

We might think the cold world is over but maybe Russia was playing for time. Maybe the chance Ukraine (that it let go) will join NATO and get nukes on its boarders was to much, do you remember Cuban missile crisis if you do could Russia be nipping the bud

This one is best solved over a table than a battlefield

Hopefully more will get your (and mine as well) point that I have been repeating here time and time again.

free health care too, cash in bank accounts, and you finally show your source for your information...... russian state owned media.

why are you in the usa? you can get free health care in russia?
you must be very frustrated here, when you could be in russia. don't see anyone (snowden excluded) striving to get to russia, so there should be a quick line to get in.

Russia is trying to stop that trend and prevent further NATO advances towards its territory.
nice for you to finally admit that russia is invading other countries.
btw, what exactly gives russia the right to invade another country?
what gives russia the right to tell other countries what they can do, who their friends can be? (probably cheerleaded their invasion of georgia too).

so why stop at invading ukraine to protect mother russia from the non-existent nato invasion/threat? maldova and romania are next, right? poland? if nato is such a threat to russia, then what's the problem?
isn't mother russia fighting for their very survival and it's all nato's fault?
or bush?

so what "direct threat" was crimea?
what "direct threat" can poland do?
what "direct threat" is maldova?
Georgia?

The founder of the Russian social network Vkontakte (dubbed the "Russian Facebook" by Western media) says his country's Federal Security Service demanded the personal information of Ukraine's Euromaidan organizers — and he refused to hand it over.

get their info, then your fellow russian comrades can do this.
pretty good kidnapping and murder. watched it again and missed the second van.
your fellow comrades snatched someone from his/her home, and threw them in the white van, top right. what I missed was the blue, windowless van on the left. rewind it and watch it again. probably 8 heavily armed russian apes in there in case anyone tries to intervene.

guy/gal tortured and murdered?

but if you submit you and all your worldly possessions, you can get free healthcare comrade, free.

lmao!! "with its own money" lol! russia steals everything have I been missing all those "made in russia" labels?

I can imagine how that conversation went for the pensioners that actually were brave enough to say they lost money due to putin's invasion.

i'm old, don't have a lot and how will i make do?
don't worry, we will put rubles in your account to make up for this month's loss for you.
you will?
yah. we're going to make hundreds of millions of dollars off of this island
really?
yah, but between you and me *snicker snicker* let's make that tens of billions of dollars off of the gas and oil we'll get from this, ah from our island. we'll save $95 million alone on rent for our fleet, and that's not including all the gas monies we'll rake in from our island. our bank accounts will skyrocket.
ours?
well, no you just get your one time replenishment. the rest is for us.
but....
you want to take a ride in our white van?
no no, i like it here. i will vote for your people
you already did
huh? i mean, ah, yeah, yeah, i ah did.

now go along now, the rubles will be in your account by the end of the week.
ok.....

free health care too, cash in bank accounts, and you finally show your source for your information...... russian state owned media.

Are you automatically discrediting what that Austrian official is saying just because of that? Did he have to lie or was coerced to say what he said just because the interviewer was the Russian TV?

why are you in the usa? you can get free health care in russia?

My employer provides my healthcare so I 'm OK for now. Yes, I 'm frustrated because of what this great country (USA) has become today, you are right in that respect but it is still much-much better suited for me than Russia.

What do you think would USA do in regards to say Mexico if Russia has sponsored its upcoming membership in the Eurasian Union and was working behind the scene to make it happen?

There was a nuclear tactical equilibrium of sorts with the way the things were before the West/NATO decided to advance even further (Ukraine) so there was and IS no real need to address Romania and the rest of the existing NATO countries. Russia is still more compromised by NATO today than it was back in 1992 though, just for the reference. Moldova isn't going to host NATO missiles so far so no concern of it yet.

so what "direct threat" was crimea?
what "direct threat" can poland do?
what "direct threat" is maldova?
Georgia?

Crimea presented no threat whatsoever and was simply absorbed due to the wish of the majority of its residents but it is too hard for you to grasp.
Poland can do whatever it can do, nobody is touching it.
Nobody is touching Moldova.
Georgia wanted to join the NATO as a full fledged member and exhibited the willingness to host NATO missiles and that kind of sh*t ain't gonna fly, I 'm sorry.

Can I ask you where you live?
