Welcome to the forum.... the best place to start is here and the best way to do it is read a LOT of threads, ask questions when you don't understand and be respectful of the rules.

Read, read, think about what you've read, think about what you believe and what, realistically, your circumstances are, read, blend it all, start a plan, and then work that plan. And with no offense, I for one don't consider it a "sport"...

Hello and welcome here....The best place to start is here....Read...
I started with bottled water...kept on buying it....then went with the food....Then home defence....and so forth...How fast you get going is based on your own limitations...take your time...

Howdy and welcome to the boards from southern Olahoma.

1. Store what you eat, eat what you store.

2. Water, A few cases of drinking water then go from there. 2 liter bottles are better than milk jugs because they dergrade over time.

3. Check out five dollar preps in the Urban Survival forum and follow the lists and read, read read.

thanks everyone for the advice. Most people have a first aid kit, so i guess i have already started just a bit. Been adding to it so its not just a bunch of different sized bandaids. I have been doing a bunch of weight training and some running just to stay healthy. However, I dont have enough food or water to last my family 48 hours! so I will continue there. I also want to try canning and vacuum packing. Would like to become a better gardener, hunting (small game), have spent some time shopping for a proper back pack for a good BOB. I eventually want to get into firearms. SO much to do! I feel very unready. Hope the end is NOT near. I will try my best to take my time and not go crazy over it. Thanks again

Hi from bama
Go to groups page and find your state group and try to find people that are meeting together on a regular basis to share ideas with. Reading and learning on here is good. Meeting other like minded people and doing actual hands on training and prepping is better.

I guess we started somewhat backwards than what everyone else seems to. We began w/defense. Doesn't matter what you've got, if you cant defend it, you wont have it for long. Once I felt good there, we expanded to water & food. EDUCATION is the best. Learn about traditional skills & ways of life. You're not stocking forever, your stocking to make it past the initial SHTF & live a different way after. Learn all you can. I have a feeling it will get me a long way :)
