Was very active on this site in the past. Newbie again.
Went thru a separation/divorce, compromised ID's/emails, bla, bla, bla...

I live off-grid, beyond the grid actually, in Wyoming. I practice xeriscaping and edible landscaping. If you have a dream, take steps to MAKE it happen.

Howdy,

Welcome to the forum from Southeastern Kansas.

Things to ponder follow: (Sounds like ya'll have a good start on these!)

Have a BOL? (If needed)

Self-sufficient? Garden?

Own a rifle? Reload? Cast bullets? Hunt? Fish?

Homebrewing? Can food?

Practice permaculture? Gather wild foods?

Thanks all.

Manyholes- we made it to work today but were sent home due to no job site access. They ran out of diesel for the graders and won't receive any til Monday.

Have a BOL? (If needed)My residential cabin is 2mi beyond the grid, 31mi off the pavement and 70mi from a real town. I'm in town for the rest of the winter, ran out of firewood (the divorce caught me by surprise). Having a propane tank delivered soon.
Self-sufficient? Garden? Not really, I have to build a green house, root cellar & pond. The chances of being totally self sufficient here is slim & none, without reverting to a nomadic native lifestyle.
Own a rifle? Reload? Cast bullets? Hunt? Fish?Stockpiled C&R guns/ammo for several years. Hunter/trapper/angler... many BP & archery kills, even harvested small game with blowguns & boomerangs.
Homebrewing? Can food?Yes/yes
Practice permaculture? Gather wild foods? Worms don't do well here unless you can do them indoors (frostline is too deep), same with keeping an apiary (spring is too short). Not as much wild munchies here as in other places, but I've found some.

Txcowgirl- xeriscaping is using plants that have a very low water requirement. We get less than 14" of precip per year, mostly as snow. Its called the high plains but also called the high desert.

High plains is right , tell me, can the mosquitos still stand flat footed and breed hummingbirds in that country? I worked for the rock river grazing asso, one year all i can remember is the Mosquitos and the soap holes . anyhow take care and I hope you get some disel :) Thats something we never run out of at the Coal mine

LOL. yep you've been here.
The skeeters are evolving for year round torment, some kind of anti-freeze in their blood. JUST JOKING, but I did find a live tick a couple of weeks ago. (Maine actually has the worst mosquitoes, they don't want blood but bone marrow).
Safety meeting this morning, maybe the diesel will arrive before the snores drive me insane.
Have a good day, and thanks to the rest of you for the welcoming committee.
