Where Have All The Preppers Gone?

I was browsing some of the older posts, most not more than a year old and I've noticed a LOT of names that I do not recognize. They are no longer actively posting. Where have the gone?

... just wondering if someone could help me solve the mystery of this mass SB exodus.

One theory: They've established an underground colony and do not have internet access. :thumb:

They got tired of the incessant bickering, the flood of n00bs posting obvious BS and the redundant religious/political posting that has started to dominate this forum.

I know where they went but as Old dude said, we´re not to talk about it.

When I first joined,after watching for a year,you saw good information and the threads stayed on topic,with no political rants,I just wish the politicians left and the survivalist/preppers stayed.Several of my friends went to prepper networks.When you look at the membership rolls, most don't even use the forum.

I have to agree with this, and I say that has someone who has done a fair bit of bickering and posting in religious threads.

I was looking at the recent posts just the other day, and most of the threads were either religious stuff or the usual Muslim bashing that gets so much attention. Sometimes I think the site would be better off if those topics were banned.

Between the Department of Home land security, the FBI, and Special Forces, they were "taken" because they spoke the truth and were developing a following. Some are held in high security in total darkness, while others are being water boarded. Luckily, some got away and went underground and no longer communicate with the rest of the population!... Just my 2 cents worth!

I click only one button: "New posts". Every once in a while there is something prepping related between the religion and the politics. Sometimes it´s remotly interesting.

Wait another year, it will be the same thing. People come and go for various reasons. The Prepping types seem to go from 0 to 100, stay there for a year or two, then go from 100 to 0. I've known other groups of preppers who burn out and disband after a year or two because the world hasn't ended yet. Right now, the stuff this site talks about is in fashion. Lord only knows (Actually, I'm pretty sure Kev knows too) how many people come to this site for the first time everyday. Many of them will also burn out and be replaced by fresh meat. Some of us are lucky, we start to burn out but decide just to calm down a bit. When that happens, we post less. Plus, I got tired of making the same arguments over and over and over to new folks, so now I do alot more lurking although I still post regularly.

You reminded me of another factor. On almost any kind of board, 99% of the topics pretty much repeat. Aside from current events (and sometimes the "news" posts are about a 2-year old article sombody just now read!) the same old topics inevitably come around. I'm not saying it's bad -- I'm just saying it happens.

I was active on several survival-related boards during the 90s, then gradually quit posting, then eventually quit reading. I didn't quit prepping, or give away my guns -- I just quit discussing AK-versus-AR and all that.

More recently, I had the same experience on some fitness boards, and woodworking boards. THere comes a point where every thread just seems too predicable.

So --- that's one theory on "where everybody went".

At least, the ones who aren't at Gitmo.

Well a few left for another elsewhere. Went there came back. Some as others said burned out and lived with sheeple now. Some just left. You never know. but what counts is some of the old names and good posters are here. (yes I know I am still listed as a newbie) Ignore the trolls pick your posts and the boards are still worth somethin. don't and well it might get tireing.
