Was the coolant fresh? I had some milk based blue coolant when I was doing maintenance machining jobs that gave me a sinus infection like hells fury. If you got some of that crap on your skin could it have been causing an infection? I believe Even breathing some of that crap could kill you with legionnaires disease
Just throwing it out there
Yes, the coolant was kept fresh, don't remember the name of it but they used that blue coolant that turned bluish while when diluted. I've worked with that stuff since the mid 70's and the place I went to after also used it without problems. They basically used all the same coolants and lubes every other place I've worked used. We did a lot of work with castings (about 75% of what I did, oilfield equipment manufacturer), I've wondered if it might have been something to do with those but that's just a guess.

I know shoulders are different from ankles but I’m recovery from shoulder replacement from 4 weeks ago. I have a lot of things to get use to. View attachment 578583
Brother, I’ve had both mine dug around in, 1 rebuilt🙏🙏Place a half roll of paper towels under your shoulder when you lay down, supports it, keeps it from sagging back and causing distress…
Swimming keeps mine loose, they will get stiff if you don’t do light exercise..After you heal ..
Good luck🙏

View attachment 578554 Back in Jan I’m walking out to the car to go swim and I slip on wet grass..most folks their feet would flip up and they bust their butts..soft ground, Im good..But wait..I gotta do some kind of twist/flip thingee🙈in mid-air( how I wish the cameras pointed at that area-it must have been majestic)and sort of torqued the leg I had knee replacement on year and a half ago…I hear a pop..my (new) knee hurt and I’m thinking oh snap…I just popped that knee…wasn’t the knee…never had much ankle issue..mines always been that knee…
So I’m up for surgery but it’s evident Optional?😳
Doc says MRI can’t see all the damage..I can put a boot on it and see🤔
Noooo…lets fix this thing…he goes in, says we did right, I had ligament damage w cartilage pieces loose floating around..all sorts of stuff…so wife’s boss says” you’ll never wear cowboy boots again”( I like them, he had the surgery and it messed him up..I have issues w my boots now if I walk a lot)..also nurse says ”it’s gonna hurt and swell off and on for a year or more”( it did and continues to)
Anyone w ankle surgery or broken bones in there have same/similar issues ?🤔
Broke my foot, Weber came down on the arch. 40 something, still heal well. Got a boot and crutches. Made my back hurt. Next morning got my best shoes, tied tight and got on with life… screw the crutches.

On another note, Grandpa always said if you’re not sure, look at the ankles to get a real idea… miss that man

Was this in Oklahoma?

Tall leather boots with tight lacings. You need the support if youre on really rough and slippery terrain- especially if you are wearing a pack! Your feet are your lifeline- you gotta protect 'em! Trekking poles can be an excellent idea aswell to keep balance and take some of that strain.

I cannot tell you how many times boots have prevented me from rolling and straining my ankles!

My days of humping a ruck anywhere, much less up and down mountains, are done…I’ve worked that into The Plan..I’m a realist and my old ideas of going bush aren’t doable…
I’ll move if I have to and I do fine for mobility on my place…I wear Johnny Combats most days for normal use anyway..they lace plenty tight and are sturdy…This ankle thing is new, the knee is two years old now,but I’m adjusting to what I can’t do yet…Every day is a new day😂

Not my ankle but my wrist, 8 years ago now. It took over a year to regain all the sensation on the back of my hand. Doc told me to "do range of motion exercises" but gave me no other guidance.

I went to the YouTubes and the Google and searched for things like "range of motion exercises after wrist surgery" and made my own exercise plan. I got back 100% range of motion, though the one wrist is a bit stiffer than the other. By that I mean I can go just as far with each wrist but I feel it more in the broken one. I have a plate and 7 screws holding everything together.

I also used an herbal healing salve with comfrey after surgery. Comfrey is a cell proliferent and speeds healing of bones and tissue. IIRC it was Complete Tissue Salve.

Mr.Mosby,We are all different,so can't tell you what to expect, best advice I can give is listen to your Dr. and P.T.,if your older like me,more is not better. If they say walk 1 hour a day, don't think 3 hours is better, give it time to heal.

My war story..when I was 58,I was coming down a ladder carrying stuff, still not sure how it happened, missed a rung, dropped 6',landing flat footed on concrete, wearing steel toe construction boots.Shattered my heel, driving bone up into ankle,ligaments,blah,blah...
operation, wheelchair, rehab, couple months later blood clots, back in the hospital, blah, blah.

Took a good year to walk without a cane..but then that knee started giving me trouble,"popping" out.
X-rays,MRI,blah,blah,..Doc said combination of previous injuries, added pressure from the ankle issue, and plain getting older.Just deal with it now with a brace and cane when needed.

I assume you are older,so you will have issues, related or not..deal with it,don't ignore it,but accept it .

Actually, when I was younger,I'd rather have a break than a sprain, just throw a cast on it and good to go in 4-6 weeks..the sprains/ligaments/pull linger and are kinda nagging for a lot longer for me.
This when you are younger. Had several sprains that took a long time before playing basketball again.

OTOH, when older, healing takes longer and there's no "good" way to get hurt.
After ankle surgery when younger, I'd play basketball every weekday for 20 years. By Friday, I'd be hurting and almost limping.

Still get mysterious foot pains even while taking it easy on my feet -- rowing, elliptical, and spinning...no more running and jumping. Range of motion, proper balance of muscles and posture, and overall strength have to be maintained forever especially after an injury that can easily corrupt your gait.

If your anything like me and that means STUBBORN with a capital S.

Then look at a zip up 'cowboy boot' and yea its not the same .

But close enough.

Hope you heal FAST,and then do NOT do that again !!.
