I have asked around about this and even have gone on some build forums (99% **** on them.) I have been trying to find out information about what all is needed to build one questions about the cups and monical cups?

I don't remember all the jargon but would like to talk to someone about making a legal build I have all the paperwork just looking for information on this be it on here or of you wish to chat IM. Thanks!

If you build one is it going to be serialized for ID? Isn't that one of the requirements for legal ownership? There's information and kits out there for using an oil filter but they aren't Legal, what makes you think yours would be any more Legal?

If you fill out the forms and follow the laws....it’s legal.

That’s pretty freaking simple.

The hard part is making it straight, and making it functional without good plans to follow.
OK, i didn't realize the same form for building a SBR also covered building a Silencer. with that in mind I found rather easily

Yes it's an easy build but it seems like people want to hide information! They much rather you waste your money on trial and error! Most feel they had to go through it so why should you not? I believe it's called eat your young! Lame @SS mentality!

If I was wrong why would they sell so many different variation and parts?

Yes you can do that! Yet look up builds it's pretty easy to do and holds up better then an oil filter!

Send me an IM and we can talk!

It's easy to do and all but there are several different options! I asked about the cups vs monical and was never given an answer only caught flack because I did not read every post since the forum was made!

Again easy build! Yet one thing can make it quieter then another. Also last longer and so on! There are a lot of options I have seen yet people don't want to talk even if it's legal!

I
Look up a couple Posts to the one I directed to Ajole, I think we were Posting at about the same time. I posted a you might be interest in if you haven't seen it yet.
I saw it but do you see the cups? That is what help suppress the sound! There are other options out there! Ones that help the suppression of the sound even better!

Think of it as a trigger on a AR-15 or stock military trigger! It works but there is better out there and it works better!

Those cups are automotive freeze plugs and cheap, you drill out the center, put a relatively large ball bearing in the center on the hole and use a vise or press to form the cone shape. I've seen the same thing done using washers and the outer part of a ball bearing race as spacers, but that's heavier.

They seem easy enough to make just everytime I read something on a site one thing say one part is legal the other site says it Illegal. I'm mostly talking about mono baffles. Yet I have seen a few builds on YouTube with build being mono.

Oh, this should be good.

Once you Form 1 is approved, you may want to look for a good barrel shrouds, mag lite extender or an oil trap.
Here is a nice thread:

I'm trying to figure out why silencers ever became illegal in the first place. Why should we need a permit to have one?
They should not but it was added in with machine guns after the 1920's even though a crime has never been proven to be committed with a suppressor. The whole 1938 firearms act is unconstitutional but Everytime it's been challenged up to the supreme court it get dropped or just goes away.

The perception coming from movies made them illegal.

IMO I wouldn't waste time building one at this point. you can e file form 4s now. home built cans will never perform like a can made from materials by companies who have put a lot of research into them. You may save some $$ but the warranty and piece of mind/company reputation are worth a little bit to me.

cons for me are if you build it you have to have you address engraved on the can, if you mess it up and end up with a baffle strike or destroy your can you have to start the entire process over. some companies you can send you can in and they will give you a new can with the same serial number. and destroy the old one. Some companies intentionally make their cans with serialized removable bases for that very reason. Silercerco warranty says "well even fix stupid once!"

If you're a veteran a lot of companies will give you really good discounts. Depending on what your going to suppress there are some pretty cheap suppressors out there.

For a rifle one after looking it up I agree but from what I have read and videos I saw for a 22LR or a pistol suppressor then it's kind of hard to beat.

Also don't understand it takes a few weeks for a form 1 yet 8-12+ months for a form 4! Why does it take so long?

Form 1 have less of a back log. more people buy than build. Form 4s are now electronic so not 8-12 mos. anymore. I would agree on the 22lr but not the pistol, pistols are direct thread but need a booster and spring to help the action cycle. at least mine do.
