Good grief to go without days of sleeping, you have issues that tylenol and benedryl won't help....I've posted info and no interest for the closed minds. Benedryl use can eventually cause memory issues and benzos for that matter....memory loss issues..
Well it does. I have no idea what causes this but it's been going on for decades. At some point, you do what you've gotta do.

Are you directing the comment about "closed minds" at me? If you have a remedy that will work for me, I'd love to hear it. Hell, I'd pay you for it!!

I have been told by a Mayo Clinic Dr. that I have the worst case of insomnia he's ever seen.

For anybody: there's a great book by a woman named Gayle Greene called Insomniac. A quote: "sometimes bad sleep is better than no sleep". She gets it.

Now you mention insomniac, I have posted my remedy above and this gives me about 9 hrs of delightful sleep. I don' t know anyone personally who claims to be an insomniac but know plenty who have sleep issues. Look at my "sleep stuff" above and give them a try...bet Mayo never gave you this info SLED.

As we get older, we in the Western world, tend to have challenges sleeping. I have not experienced a similar issue in 3rd world countries where people are struggling to meet Maslow's basic hierarchy of needs. I am spent a lot of time in the 3rd world and have spoken to doctors, patients, and regular Joes. Life is arduous and people physically struggle to just put food on the table as there are no government hand outs. We take medication or supplements to address the problem. I am of the opinion that in reality we are just masking things and seldom do we overcome it because we do not address the root cause. When we are young, sleep tends to come much easier. For many, it is about decreased physical activity levels as we get older as our immediate life needs are met due to increased economic security and the benefits it brings. We just don't need the amount of sleep we needed previously. While there is no universal solution, I have found that my sleep has improved since instituting a rigorous workout routine every single day. Depending on one's physical condition, it can take a while to work up to exercising until one is truly tired. In my experience, sleep comes the more physically tired (in my case not so much when mentally tired) or just being sleep deprived). Remember how active you were as both as a child and young adult (I am making the assumption you are not a teen anymore)? Ironically, you have more time on your hands now because you are not sleeping. Consider giving it a try as she worst thing that can happen is that you end up in great physical condition , if you are smart about what you are doing and don't hurt yourself, and still can't sleep. My guess is that won't the case, but everybody is different. YMMV.

From my experience, doctors always like to hit the easy button whether it be surgery or prescribing medication. For me, it is a last resort. FWIW, I both sleep better and I am better overall physical condition.

Bad Fog, what you say is true and my parents slept well and both died in their 90's and they were NOT part of the tech madness, you think all the looking at screens all day or a great part of the day, does not add to all the sleep issues. Look at my "sleep stuff" and give it a shot or some of it, no doc scripts involved....otc good stuff.

If you all are not UP on your magnesium intake, you could have a deficiency and millions do and I just found the Mg and memory and sleep connection. Check out your Mg.

Well, I've read and re-read every word you posted, Joyce, and I'm grateful for you sharing your knowledge and expertise in this area.

Sleep issues are no fun and can be dangerous both in daytime alertness (making accidents more likely) as well as direct health-wise (cardio and respiratory issues, apnea problems, etc.).

The body and your brain require periods of rest and deep sleep, as well as the other sleep cycles to rejuvenate and heal. Depriving yourself of this valuable daily biological function is certainly not healthy and absolutely will shorten your life by years.

Thanks again for your valuable contributions here, Joyce. I look forward to reading your future posts.👍👍👏👏

Good I've worked on my combo for about 20 yrs and my last two additions B6 and Tryptophan are the icing on the cake, before I got on these I would wake up for the bathroom and it would often take 2-3 hrs to get back to sleep, NO MORE. A friend told me about these 2 and I went for it and they work.

We are all different and bodies unique but SLEEP is so critical. So critical.

I love love love helping people with health issues as I know doctors know so little, I've been that route....

Wait...we're all different?

Daaaaaaaammmmmnnnn!

{Godsmacked}

😅😂🤣
Absolutely and what this means is that maybe your body needs more than 1/2mg melatonin as I take, Some nights I take 1mg tab and I sleep deeper but a tad more difficult to get up in the morning. So people can adjust the ingredients I print to their body....your bodyweight counts a lot.

I’m a recovering drug addict and alcoholic, 7.5 years clean give me big hell yeah!, Through rehab and after care therapy I learned I have a multitude of chemical imbalances, mostly I deal with high anxiety that creates ADD, sleep issues, and other non helpful emotions. I have tried every med they can throw at me, none of the “good stuff” of course, and nothing really works. Most of stuff either didn’t work or made me feel like a zombie.
Anxiety is the Real underlined problem with everything, including sleep.
As @BobbyBUSA said a vigorous workout may be an option. I stopped working out a couple years, and probably should start again, but we bought a hobby farm a few years ago that keeps me Very busy, with an abundance of physical exercise. It has helped with some sleep and anxiety issues.
I Believe your issue with sleep isn’t sleep itself, it’s anxiety. Anxiety is a very very controlling emotion, that can reek havoc on every aspect of your life. Look at other more physical or mental draining exercises during the day to help with your issues. Nothing will change overnight. To be honest this just maybe your new normal (boy I hate that term). Adjust your life around this routine and just accept it. I have and have been much happier for it!
But I hope you find your way through this, whatever that may be.

I was in a motorcycle wreck in 2014 and have not been able to sleep much since. I can go out almost instantly but staying asleep is a problem.

I have been told more than once that my body is stuck in a fight or flight response and that is causing my body to produce cortisol on a massive scale. The problem is no one can help me correct what is going on.

Have you tried cortisol blockers?

I have been researching them and have not found one I am sold on yet. It sounds like the best bet is to pick up the individual supplements and make your own.

If anyone has any suggestions I am open.

Have you looked into adrenal fatigue?

Also, it sounds like you have PTSD (I’m not a doctor), there has been studies that have been shown that micro dosing Psilocybin mushrooms can alleviate those symptoms. They have been working with military members extensively to help reduce their PTSD. As always do your own research, but there are doctors and clinics out there to help you through the process.

Starting more and more research into those areas. Most of what I find out there is loose weight quick pills. The more I look the more I am convinced that buying the individual supplements is the way to go.

I am limited on some of the recommended remedies, since I am subjected to frequent Whiz Quizes and close to a pension and don't want to screw it up.

Whatever supplement you decide to take, keep in mind it will take 8-10 weeks of taking it (Everyday without missing does), for you to see any changes.

As for micro dosing, this would be done under the care of a doctor, I would think that would eliminate any issues if you came up dirty.
Again, do your research!

Certainly try the blocker supplement first.

I’m just giving you options, that I am aware of, to help with your issue.
Good luck, if you have success, please post your findings on here.

Right now I am going through videos and articles on the subject and making a list of the recommended supplements. The I am looking at each individual supplement. There are 5 that keep coming up again and again. I have found them locally.

Next week I am trying an acupressureist and seeing if they have anything to add. Then looking at that info if any.

When I make a decision I will post what I picked up and the results.

Just a suggestion, https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ptsd+isochronic+tones
I listen to several different tones for different reasons with good results.

Keep in mind, you might have to try different versions before finding one that works for you. Everybody is different and each one may not work the same for you as for someone else. Also a key is to hydrate well before listening.
