Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs--Tactics for dealing with this threat?

yep..13 and other urban gangs will be the real worry and I'll fight them best I can...first effort on my part was to move out to the country where they don't play that often...second effort is that I expect our neighborhood would rally well against such a different force..the culture, the race, the mindset...long term shtf.. our neighborhood might eat each other..but before we do.. we'll work side by side to turn a 13 type gang away.

bikers? if they decide to move in...I expect I'd just have to grab my bandana, jump on my big ol red Honda CT90 and tie a rope onto the back of a one of their bikes so I can keep up :D:

but I really I am a big fan of deterents...wires, trees in the road, other ruthless methods that cause as much damage and discomfort to their membership as possible.

I would just try to recruit them for my scooter gang.

For a motorcycle gang, eliminate the ability to ride a bike near you and everyone's on foot. Then it's just headshots, we know they don't wear helmets :thumb:

I might worry a little about the inner city gangs if I lived in the inner city...as for the biker gangs...I just don't see them as a big threat to everyone...much less, take over a community. I have dealt with many of them over the years & there is allot of myth associated with them played up by the media & Hollywood.

As for the inner city gangs, I suspect they will still pay most of their attention to protecting their territory, shaking down the neighborhood & fighting amongst gangs.

Inner city gangs, are held together by money, more than anything else. Sure for a while there would be civil unrest. I think they would be just as confused as everyone else if everything came to a complete stop.
if no one has any money then they can't buy drugs. What would happen next would probably be varied.
Some would see an opportunity to take over a neighbourhood I guess. Some would just sleep and pretend it is all going to go away like everyone else.

You start attacking bikers and you will be shooting at half my family. Some of you guys here are scared of your own shadow. Lighten up. Nobody has done anything and when someone does we all know what to do.

Caltrops anyone?

Exactly! I guess that's what I was trying to get at. At one time they were a major threat but for the most part they would just be a another raider group. I think the Hells Angles and Mongals would decimate themselves finishing off the turf war.

That is where I'm not so sure. I can see them expanding if given the chance and they have ZERO respect for life. I read about it all the time in the news. Indecriminate drive by shooting and everyone is a target. Doesn't matter who or even what age. Get mad at someone? Spray the house and even the babies die. Get in a fight at a party? Spray the crowd.

While we all live in different regions and all have different issue's, I think the outlaw motorcycle gang is over rated. The bigger threat in this day and age is the street gangs.

I am not entirely convinced that motercycle gangs or even large street gangs will be that much of a threat post SHTF. At least not as we know them today.

One of the largest factors that makes them "criminal" is their involvement with drugs sales or transportation. In a PAW situation or cessation of government the legality of drugs becomes a non-issue.

Another aspect of their "criminality" is the gun trade. In a PAW situation, I think most of us will be running guns to some degree.

Most gang violence is directed at each other over territory control or as revenge. If you are not involved in some sort of racketeering or other shady element, you do not have much to worry about.

In a PAW, there will likely be some degree of an increase of violence. You can avoid becoming a victim by never traveling alone or unarmed. Remain alert and look like a hard target.

The biggest threat IMO will be from smaller elements of thieves, burglars and rapists. Not to mention the mentally ill who are off of their meds.

Even so, groups who appear well organized and defended will stand a better chance of survival. Even small family groups. The large organized gangs such as Hells Angels will want a positive community image. Even the ones who are inclined to crime will overlook or consider homes as small time. They will want the big targets such as warehouses, gun stores/armories and loaded 18 wheelers.

Quite frankly, it is the religious zealot that scares me the most. And my own neighbors. Most murder victims are killed by someone they know and trust.

Just my .02 cents.

I am right there with you.
It is not the gangs ,it is the religious zealots that will be the biggest problem, and the sociopathic crazys, and petty thieves.
It is kinda hard to do business if everyone is dead, and most gangs are a business.

yep..just be sure to ask em for some ID first...after SHTF so many people will be coming in without baths, shaving, be dirty etc...even the yuppie wild hogs might look like real bikers so be sure before you pull the trigger..you might be ending a midlife crisis rather than just a crisis... :rolleyes:

i've got enough supplies I'm thinking I could setup shop..be a home base..let them go raid, etc and come back as needed.. setup the girls..the ones with most of their teeth continue with their usual trade...the more traveled gals can go milk the cows...charge a little rent in the form of barter from their daily pillaging and looting...

ok..seriously..my point is..if things have broken down that bad that we have no hope of lawful restoration from our existing govt..then I'd be looking for law and order from other reliable sources..and while we might not like how they make their money today...a formal bike gang can be counted on for rules of order and if they are the law..then i'll work with them..til a bigger stick comes along.

but they'll have to be really bored and spend a lot of gas to find me out here...

Yea idk about all this mess. There people like you and me, enthusiast and like minded people. To think they'll all just turn into monsters if SHTF seems ignorant in my opinion. Specially in the context that started this thread. Their brothers, sisters, sons, dads, grandfathers, moms, etc. If they are generally not good people, they'd probably be that way regardless of them knowing how to operate a motorcycle. I ride, met many who ride all kinds of bikes in "gangs". Sometimes not people id wanna keep company with but never people i feel don't know right from wrong. Most of you would be surprised at who was in hells angles and other gangs... I've had them as friends fathers, fellow riders, even bosses. Normal people like you me. just my opinion.

Although I don't see MCs being much of a problem, I do see inner city lower class being a huge problem and will be dealt with decisevly if they pose my comunity a threat. But if you that worried about motorcycle gangs the I suggest stocking up on incendiary ammo. Shoot the tank and it makes fire. Hit the man and they are dead simple as that. Personally I'm shootin the person cause after it's all over I'll have me a few Harleys to ride. I always wanted one and couldn't afford plus a 13 cent bullet for a HD is a sweet deal.

Here is what I would imagine:
1) distance yourself from any possible threat
2) deter any threats (level trees across roads, road cables, caltrops, ditches with concrete pipe sections rolled into them, remove a bridge if needed, etc)
3) perimeter security - if you know someone is coming you have the jump and can get your eyes peeled and your people in position
4) make it clear there is a softer nut to crack somewhere else - you'd hear a large group a distance off, so get set to unload a warning volley
5) monitor a variety of frequencies - you may pick up communications of threats
6) neighbors and community

Overall, a large group of motorcycle riders would consume a lot of gas roaming about. Keep your distance and don't be tops on their list of desirable targets.

I am inclined to take a more pro-active approach. If I know they are in my AO and causing trouble. Since I do plan on making area patrols to gather intel and find out who else is running around. If I find that outlaw gangs are active in the AO. Steps would be taken..........Just say'n

Those gangs may be the wave of the future. Historically, whenever an empire has fallen the power vacuum has been filled by plundering bands of less cultured but determined and ruthless people. Read the "Iliad." The Greeks (though Homer himself never calls them that) are probably a branch of the Sea Peoples who infested the eastern Mediterranean after the collapse of the Minoan civilization. They looked, talked and acted like the Crips or Bloods. When you killed a man, you stripped off his armor, just as you'd take his wallet if you'd done it on a street in L.A. The glamor of a warrior aristocracy and the meddling of the gods were later inventions of poets like Homer.

The same thing happened when the western Roman Empire fell. With the legions gone from the borders, the empire filled with predatory warbands. Ten generations later, the descendants of those barbarian chieftains were kings, dukes and earls, those of their followers were knights and men-at-arms. The conquered people were serfs. Search the family trees of European royalty and somewhere back there you'll find a thug who owned a horse and a sword. So show a little respect to those gang leaders. You may be talking to the ancestors of kings.

the population of 1%er MC's is infinitesimal compared to the MS13 type gangs..
