I don't blame the super rich foir hording their money.
Neither do I. My old boss who owns a major carpet cleaner product company was telling me that out of the whole last year, he spent less than 30 days in the U.S. He buys up properties around the world to hide his money from the IRS, but it's getting rather tedious playing cat and mouse with the government and his earnings. He plans to change his citizenship and eventually cash in on those properties and assets and retire in Argentina. He used to have investments here, but lately all of his money has gone overseas.

My point is that the problem with taxes is that the people being taxed are smarter than those trying to collect them by a tremendous spread, so you'll never see the money anyways. All that tax hikes really do is drive away investments, bc they have other options abroad. And the rich don't mind taxes so much when they go to build schools and roads. But when they're spent to drive up labor costs through welfare financing people capable of work, or finance the clowns in office to go play empire around the world, it really ****es them off and you'll probably never see a dime from them.

Just look at the UK and their tax hikes. The rich either hid their money or went abroad, and the government collected less overall, even though the taxes were higher.

shado What you're discussing is what social programs were designed for: a hand UP.

The problem we have is the lifetime use of them when there isn't need. Yes, someone can be disabled and unable to work and needs to subsist on SNAP and other welfare. This is a fact.

You, sir, used them to keep going then became a productive citizen again. The social benefit of you not starving to death is obvious - you're an adult who is willing and able to work.

I think the difference is, that we got off them when we didn't ABSOLUTELY NEED them. My pride took a pretty big hit going into that office, but, hey we needed them and they helped us. I can't naysay on the program for that.

Nothing is black and white. It's not always lazy people who want "free stuff." Those social programs that you guys all abhor so much still help out well-meaning folks sometimes.

That being said, starving for a day or two builds character. Not many people know what it's like to starve. It's a pretty eye opening experience. Maybe some of these people's eyes will be opened because of this fiasco.

Not to be a prick... but lemme know when you hear back from them.

I read a quote somewhere that said, "It's too late to work within the system, but too early to line the bastards up against the wall."

xMr_RevolutioNx Im 19 with a wife, a 10 month old, an apartment, insanely high insurance for our cars, and we both work full time jobs. Do I want a cookie? NO. Am I bragging? NO. DO we receive any type of government help? HELL NO!!! My wife is also a full time student! Yet we get absolutely no help from the government yet people in her family with no kids and a paid off house get it? We applied for medical cards for our son and my wife and we got 100% denied because we make to much a month for a family of 3 BEFORE THEY TAKE OUT TAXES. Would we be completely dependent on that our whole life? NO just til I get a job that covers my family with insurance. I pay out my @ss for taxes why shouldn't I get a medical card? Wake up libs. When SHTF all these welfare dependent people will starve. Children and elderly should be priorities in this country. WITH CIRCUMSTANCES. Im tired of payin for every crack head with 7 kids and every white trash with 5 kids with a small gene pool if you know what I mean, Im tired of paying for every illegal immigrant, Im tired of paying for SHEEPLE!!!!!!!!!! Im gonna write Mr. Obama and my Ohio Senator until something is done.

Congratulations on the degree and good school performance! Keeping good grades can be hard to do when times are rough. Definitely push on for a Bachelor's degree as soon as you can. I'm only 18 credit hours shy of my Bachelor's, and boy will I be glad to have that. Associate degrees don't get you much nowadays. I have 4 of them, including the basic AA and AS, and they never did me a lick of good.

-BillyTheKid- In November, 2008 one in 14 Americans were getting the food handout. Today it's one in seven, and slowly closing in on one in six. Imagine what it was prior to November, 2008. What's going on is a combination of irresponsible people not saving $ for rainy (stormy) days at a critical point in history (ie, we're in uncharted waters) and der gubnerment and their infinite quest to make everyone as dependent on them as possible.

The best social program is to work for what you need. The trouble is, American gubnerment has been teaching and rewarding people for bad behavior for several decades, which only encourages more of the same. Shame on those that fail to plan, but everyone needs to learn, understand, respond to and understand, "a government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take away everything you have". Or as Thatcher once said, something like, "the problem with socialism is that is it ceases to work when there's nobody left to put into the system".

They are running those ads in Mexico as well, no Really.

No you can truely get started on the melt down.

In 2011, the first of the baby boom generation reached what used to be known as retirement age. And for the next 18 years, boomers will be turning 65 at a rate of about 8,000 a day. http://www.aarp.org/personal-growth/...ns/boomers_65/

I'm not wealthy and made ends meet by living off savings, growing my own vegetables, ate a lot of eggs/chicken (owned them) and had to cash in a couple of ira's. You learn how to tighten up your belt and make ends meet any way you can...

I just don't want to see any families put in a worse way by being controlled and basically owned like slaves. Btw, once you're in the system, if you change your mind, you'll be taking a vacation at camp fema.

EddieApoc Well I'll be damned Population in 2010 308,745,538. Population in 1960 179,323,175.

Not quite doubled but not far off. I stand corrected.

Doubled our population? Where are those stats that's definitely wrong.
