PreppingGal I had that same weather, too. It hit right after I finished replacing a window on the porch that the wind blew down and broke.

teddyearp Another 'gift' from your neighbors to the west, lol. Though I didn't get the hail.

Steve_In_29 Had rain off and on since early this morning and now it is pouring with high winds and some hail mixed in.

I don't know about how healthy it is, as it's just spiced fermented cabbage (though there are several other varieties made with daikon, greens, water, etc) but yes she makes it along with every other Korean dish.
Check this article,

Also, when my wife had any digestion problems she would go for the kimchi.

Ah okay that makes sense then. I had mistakenly thought you were trenching in an entirely new line.

The weather's supposed to be nicer this week, so I'm hoping to get a little outdoor painting done. And I want to get an electrical line run out to the well house for the heat tape that's wrapped around a pipe. Right now I'm using a long extension cord. I've heard that wells can freeze up when it gets too cold out.
Well it was probably one of those hipster back-to-nature types and it's not just Priuses that are an issue. Many of those AWD cute-utes end up stuck once the dirt roads get sloppy. A friend of mine has an AWD Honda Element and it is getting beat to crap as he hunts for a truck he can afford.

Glad to hear the car is good to go.

The well won't freeze (unless they didn't use a pitless setup) but the exposed pipes in your well house can. So you definitely want a source of heat and to insulate the walls/ceiling if not already done. If they didn't bury the water line to house deep enough or insulate the pipes under the house you can have freeze issues there as well.

Your well house doesn't have a 110V outlet? My pump is 220 but there is a 110 line off the pump's panel going to the outlet and a light.

Steve_In_29 Was reading back through the thread and was reminded I hadn't seen the Prius drive past in quite a while. I wonder if they gave up and moved out or simply wised up and bought a more appropriate vehicle.

Steve_In_29 Was 5 degrees at 0600 this morning but sunny and calm.

No, my first name is Ted and several years (gosh ages) ago right after Tombstone came out, I went about on a Halloween with boots, a cowboy hat, and a six shooter on. Knocked on a buddy's door and when he opened it, he said, "Hey look, it's teddyearp!"

Steve_In_29 Was 13 degrees at 0700 and didn't break 40 for the high here. At least the wind died down so I was able to use the propane deep fryer to cook some egg rolls outside.

teddyearp Yes, it's about 17 here this morning, only supposed to warm to about maybe 50 in Taylor where I work and then get even colder tonight. Warming for the weekend, but I think old man winter is a knock knock knocking.

Steve_In_29 Wind was blowing so hard your leaves are somewhere in New Mexico. I saw them go by. LOL

Woke up this morning to 20 degrees and supposed to get down into single digits tomorrow.

teddyearp Last weekend I was looking outside and saying to myself, nice, don't even have to drive out to the woods to see any fall colors, got plenty right on my little piece of forest.

This weekend it all blew away, probably out to St. Johns, lol. Well, what didn't land in my yard anyway.

Steve_In_29 Hope you can get the car fixed. You might be able to pick up an entire door at a scrap yard if you can't get the metal pulled out. A screw in bodywork slap-hammer would work to get the dents out but will look a bit ghetto if no other body work is done to it

Winds picked up even more here around midnight and were really making things sing from the vibrations.

I woke up to a surprise of blowing snow. Nothing stuck and it was more of a fluffy frozen rain then actual snow.

PreppingGal That wind yesterday was something else! My old beater car had been sitting for a while, so I decided to take in to church to give it some exercise. When I got there, a gust of wind blew the door out of my hand with such force that it bent the sheet metal and now I can't open it enough to get in or out, and you can see daylight around the door. It if can't be fixed cheaply, it's probably totaled at this point. (It's a 97 Geo with over 350 K miles.) Just glad I didn't take the newer car.

This morning before dawn I let the dogs out and when I went to get them back inside, one of them was doing this weird bobbing thing with her head. It was still pretty dark. Then she turned around and I saw a tumbleweed caught in the long thick fur under her neck. Hand to rescue her from the weed, LOL. Apparently the wind managed to get some tumbleweeds over the 6 foot fence and into the dog pen.

I'm keeping an eye on that fire, too. Nothing to worry about yet, but it still bears watching.
