The clean combustion from your Dakota? fire pit is impressive, I could hear the effects of the draft mixing the combustion gasses.
Truth is that, I probably built it too big. Even in colder weather, the temps would go up to like 80 (not kidding) with the flap down, when it was going full blast but the vents at the top were not enough to vent all the gas. It did well once the fire was now to just coals.

Doing this backwards

Hi, I'm Kory D, the Aspiring Caveman. I was told I should have done this first, so here it is.

I got about 15 years of primitive survival and bushcraft work under my belt. I took my first course in 2005 and read a bunch of books before that.

About 8 years ago made it pretty much my only hobby and focused on it harder than pretty much anything else up to that point in my life.

Even that didn't seem to satisfy in the long run, so when I had enough money saved up, I set out on a four-year journey to do nothing but. That was two years ago. I've been traveling to Montana and the Mid-West, and last year I did a whole year in the shelter you see at the end of the post here.

This summer, I'm in Europe just to change things up, and I might end up in South America starting in the fall.
