TIMBERWOLF8 I shot 200 rounds through mine this weekend with no problems .. Not sure where your info is coming from .. If you have to pop off your dust cover and fix the problem you the last thing you will hear is my 1919 MATCH fire.. LOL Really starting to dislike saiga more and more .. I'll put mine up against yours any day . If my shotgun or rifle ever failed me I wouldn't be stupid enough to try and fix it during a gun fight .. I would take my target out with my side arm RUGER 44 MAGNUM .. What a dumb comment ..

justin22885 alright, then rely on it and use it to defend the life of yourself or your family, and when the turkish piece of junk malfunctions the guy with a saiga can pop off his dust cover and remove the bolt to get at the problem while youre still trying to remember where you left your screwdriver

you cant possibly be serious when you use "but guns have cleaning kits" as an excuse for that nonsense

Who cares? We had a cleaning kit in our military arms back in my day, most military organizations have issued the tools for cleaning a gun along with the gun for over a century now, and many had a specialized tool of some sort in them...why not one in/with a shotgun?

roseman I never mentioned and shotgun, just legitimizing the platform.

The Saiga 12 is used by a handful of nations for police, MP's, and private security.

No need to get pedantic about it.

everything at some point has been used in a military application, military has been the driving factor behind small arms and firearms development since hand cannons from the 13th century

but if youre just using it for the occasional hunting trip or an afternoon at the range none of it matters, it matters if its a weapon you plan to rely on because betting your life on some obscure, unproven shotgun you need a socket wrench just to do basic maintenance on for the sole reason that it looks aesthetically similar to an AR15 and its controls are in more or less the same position is simply idiotic

All of that said....yes, there are better options out there.
well, i mean if its just your weekend duck hunting shotgun, fine, but then shouldnt it be in the shotgun forum and not the military weapons forum?.. unless someone was planning to use it in a military role or shtf situation, something to be relied upon, thats when tool-free breakdown and easy cleaning/maintenance becomes important

to answer your question as to whether or not i clean shotguns, ive completely eliminated shotguns from my arsenal.. i have absolutely no use for them in any kind of a scenario that doesnt involve hunting pheasant or waterfowl.. of all the weapons i have, i find shotguns the most useless to me, there are some elements of the saiga i wish we could see in more modernized/updated AK rifles such as the gas tube/rear sight assembly

but one advantage of the AR the shotgun in question lacks is the quick disassembly and easy maintenance and cleaning.. on an AR you pull a pin, hinge it open, pull out your BCG, on an AK or saiga you push a button, remove the top cover, remove your bolt carrier group.. on the akdai you get a screwdriver (screwed if you dont have one), remove two screws, remove the buttplate, get a socket wrench, the appropriate socket, get an extension for it, remove a bolt, and then you can open it up for disassembly.. just not a good feature for any weapon id ever want to rely on, shotgun or otherwise

hoplite59 No comparison between the Saiga 12 and that turkish piece of junk. Vepr 12 even more so.
03-26-2017 06:49 PM
justin22885 had to actually look this up as i wasnt familiar with it.. piece of junk aint even remotely related to the AR, its just made to superficially resemble one with the design of the handguards, stock, and carry handle whereas a saiga in its very essence is still an AK... but theres no comparison as to which is by far the superior shotgun

i mean, are you REALLY going to carry around a screwdriver and a socket wrench to clean your shotgun?

TIMBERWOLF8 I have an AK-47 But I enjoy my AR 15 more.. Thanks for the birthday wishes .. I got my drivers license renewed for 8 years and my concealed carry renewed for 5 years .. LOL
