Bidadisndat Not quite, Frostbite.

The centre band on that flag was white.

The centre band on the RTI flag is grey.

(The sample patch sent to me has a darker grey than what was shown here so I've updated my avatar.) If you go back to my OP you will see the reasoning for the grey colouring.

Ft Frostbite Remove the circle with the snake and you have the official flag of the German second reich

swamppapa reminds me of the SLA flag super imposed over a inverted Iraqi flag

Jash Repel the intruder, with snake pic. Makes me want to grab my longest machete and chop snake heads off if they come near my house.

Whilst I don't agree with them the patch I designed has no such implications but simply shows that you don't want intruders coming onto your land or breaking into your house with evil intent.

As far as the snake itself goes, the red-bellied black snake is not aggressive unless it is defending itself or its territory. Its appearance could be likened to the red-bellied mud snake which is endemic to the Southern States, from Texas across Florida, thus the patch could also be worn in the U.S. for the same reasons as I mentioned above.

Sound reasonable?
I understand the "Don't Tread On Me" flag/patch, I just didn't get that type of message from your description. Seeing your avatar I get what you're aiming for now.

Bidadisndat Thanks Charlie,

I gave it a shot but it didn't work, though I managed to put it up as my avatar.

(I'm Computer Illiterate so I'll ask my daughter to help me do it later.)

Cheers,

Bid

Traveler 1 Waiting for pics

2 What message are you trying to convey (imagery)? Or are you just making a pretty picture?
I guess I don't get what the stripes/colors represent.

Shoulder Patches

I designed a shoulder patch that has created quite a bit of interest among many of my friends and want to post an image of it here to get a reaction before having it produced. (Not really sure how to go about doing that but here's hoping.... )

The first design I did was simply two horizontal bands of black over red with a yellow disc featuring a red-bellied black snake surmounted by the words REPEL THE INTRUDER.

Whoops! Can't do that as it would be considered a defacement of the Aboriginal Flag, which being a Recognized Flag in Australia would make that illegal.

The second design was three horizontal stripes of black over white over red, but as my daughter pointed out that could be taken to mean the white man separating the Indigenous People from the land.

The final design is again three horizontal stripes but the centre stripe is grey and the patch has a yellow border.

Anyone care to comment?

Edited to add: Darn... The image didn't go through. Anybody know how to upload one here?
