Still have two folded up in a drawer along with the rest of my man-dress regalia. Didn't use one that often in the field. More typically tribal shemagh, shalwar kameez, vest, & pakol. Still carried a 'cho liner or patrol bag in my pack even when I did.

Haven't worn one since early OEF. It is what it is... a wearable light wool cloak. A viable cultural solution (like Latin American serapes) to weather. So it works. The same way wool always works. But they're thin compared to the old USGI blanket. More like shawl thickness. I'd rather sleep in a poncho liner, but it's hard to wear one of those while on the move.

I'd never considered adding one to a BOB/GHB. I'll have to re-think that. I guess that my never using one since I left that country... indicates that it never made an indelible impression on me. Conversely, I've worn my Pashtun wool pakols (hats) out hiking.

Hey, Astronomy, what can you tell me about the Afghan Patu blanket/shawl? One of my NCO's kept one in his BOB, said he preferred it to the woobie. I know they are 100% wool, you said in past posts that you have used them. How do they compare to the G I blanket, woobie, like that. Thinking about maybe getting one, would like to know your thoughts.

Astronomy, you need to learn that when a good conspiracy thread comes up, you need to help ignite the flames. Lol

Negative. Too short to lock into the full sized magazine well of the 75/85 guns. However, the longer magazines of the 75/85 or SP-01 will fit into the compact weapons. They will protrude a bit due to that extra length, not fitting flush with the base of the grip. However, that will not inhibit function.

    Thanks for that response.

    About the Cz75. Would a P-01, 75 Compact, or PCR magazine fit into a 75 / 85?
