Around here we call folks who act the way you describe as hillbillies because it seems most are from WV. I agree you can find bad in the county as well as the city and to me it’s always linked to poverty.

I’ve lived 45 years at the same place in Ohio which was once a lot of farms but now it’s getting more suburban and wineries are replacing farms so I get the pushy urbanites who want to transform the very thing they claim attracted them here in the first place.

I had a little over 40 acres. The people who were near me weren't transplants from any city, they were country people. I do have some good memories, but a lot of bad ones too.

I think a lot of people in this forum think too highly of country folk, not realizing there are good and bad in both places.

I worked for a large children's hospital and worked every Saturday. Those fellows would party every Friday and Saturday night. The way the hills were, everything echoed. Railbuggies, dirtbikes, 4-wheelers, angry girlfriends who acted like men.

I live in town now. It does get loud during the daytime with all the cars, but at least I'm far from those people.
