Default Centurion 39 sporter AK

Century Arms has this American made AK for sale and wonder if anyone has a review on it. I know it's Century, and honestly feel they are "trying" to redeem their reputation. Anyway, I am being allowed $1000 to blow from tax return. SO after getting a pistol, I am looking at this AK. I already have 1 WASR from them that I bought for $700 {during the peak of the freak out sales} Anyway, I was very happy with it as far as being straight.

A lot of people trash Century but I have used two of their WASRs and one of their RPK style AKs extensively and had no problems - no ftf, no fte, no canted sights - just afine shooting gear - basic with a bit of a rough finish, but they worked just great.

From the looks of that rifle it appears that someone in their organization is attempting to change the branded image from low end starter AKs to a move up firearm, just below the Krebs/In Range level.

Definitely worth a look and I too would love to hear from non-arm chair reviewers who have had range time with one...

100% american made AK?? Ummm I wouldn't, we just can't seem to get AK's right. I'd suggest an Arsenal SGL series, they're Saiga conversions not american attempts at AK's. Just my thoughts.

century farms out the building of the m70 kits they import. The reason people tend to love them is because they are *NOT ACTUALLY BUILT BY CENTURY*!

If I had $1000 to blow I'd get an arsenal also.

Interesting. thanks for pointing this out. This might be worth it to some out there that have a safe full of Mosins, and stock 7.62x54 on the heavy side.

My wife's WASR-10/63 CAI import is turning out to be a decent little truck gun for her. No issues as of yet, and shoots just as well as the chicom AK's. (MAK's, Norinco's). Overall, it's turning out to be a fine $275.00 rifle
I have seen quite a few bad reports on these rifles (as you have), but the majority of reports from folks that own them and shoot them often have been good.

I don't think the SGL's are quite that high, IIRC they're in the $700 range. Still not cheap though, but it'll leave a little for mags and ammo.

I was happy to pay the price for my SGL 21.
Yes it is true that an AK is an AK. But for me, the quality and craftsmanship are not equal for all brands.
Yeah, happy to pay for the quality.
Henderson is also a viable alternative, from what I've heard. They Offer a Century "certified" AK

Default centurion 39 ak 47

i just bought one of these rifles, shot over 500 rounds today.there were no jams misfires or ftf, with that being said, the olny bad thing about this rifle is the furniture, but that's just me i don't like plastic.all the metal parts i would give a 10 out of 10 it shot 2 inch groops all day.i also have an arsonal ak the quality of the centurion 39 ak 47 is just as good if not a little better, not counting the furniture.J&G has them for 750.00 plus about 17.00 to ship to your ffl,my guy charges a 25.00 transfer fee thats under 800.00.
