Default Calela's sells a screw in "door breacher" choke

Advertise Here

For any of you have have looked at the new Mossberg door breacher shotguns, they feature a shotgun barrel that ends in a seratted barrel. It seems a good idea to me on a self defense shotgun.

However, Cabellas now sells a screw in choke that does the same thin in your old Remington pump. They call it the "breecher choke tube". $49.00.

Excellent way to totally destroy the choke tube threading in the barrel I think. If I've got a 12 gauge.........I've already got a "door breacher".

Why? Do you mean if it was flush against the door hinge? I think its to be used at an angle, with the "teeth" just touching and digging into the surface at an angle

Thumbs up

Yeah, we all need a breacher choke. For all those doors we need to breach when on drug raids and storming terrorist hide-outs.

Or scrounging for supplies when yours run out,

Oh come now, no one has ever thought of these, even though not optimal scenarios?

Safer ways to do this besides blowing down doors. If there were people there, what are you going to do? Burst in and shoot them all? They will all probably be armed also. Shootout is the last thing you need or want.

The serrations are there for a valid purpose...if you place the barrel flush against the hinge/lock and shoot you have an excellent chance of blowing up your barrel with back pressure, the serrations allow the gas to escape...It is without a doubt the most useless device Mossberg ever came out with and why it is (or already has ben) discontinued after only a couple of years...

As stated it is the type of shot that is used that causes the damage not the choke--don't matter if you use Super Xtra Full or imp cyl--you're only firing from a few inches...BTW cylinder is not a choke designation...

And kill the team member that is stacked on that side of the door...

SWAT/HRT use heavy inert powder shot (#20 or so) to breach doors not slugs because it will not cause damage to humans if a ricochet happens like a slug--not probably but definitely, positively, you bet your ass will...There have been numerous reports of the shooter being hit by the slug they fired...

Of course there are exceptions due to circumstance but if that is the case there is no way you'll have team members on the bullet path side unless of course you have an idiot for a team leader and that really screws up your dynamic entry...

I don't plan on breaking in other peoples homes so I'll skip the breacher option also.

Can't say I was impressed with those. Never had to breach a door, and the odds of injuring yourself in the process -- without a kevlar vest, helmet, eye protection -- would be high. It's not ricochet so much as splintering wood/metal from the door that I'd be most concerned with.

umm no
the breach man is the fourth person in the stack he when the team leader signals for the breach man he breaks off third man picks up rear security as breach man is now in front of everyone busts the door and either goes in or gets outta the way of the team depending on what breaching method used and most likly your shooting the hinges there easier to take out anyway

With all the women in my house, this may come in handy to get into the bathroom occasionally in the mornings...
