Default sure gel shelf life

Advertise Here

My wife found a couple of packages of sure gel that expired about a year ago. Has anyone had it not work if it's too old. I have never been one to put too much worry about expiration dates, but I an curious about this one before we try to make jelly with it to use it up.

It might still be good but it doesn't usually last longer than a year or so. You might try it with something that you don't mind if it turns into a syrup instead of a jam since there will still be some thickening to it even if it isn't solid like a jam.
There is a longer life pectin available:

Frugal squirrels has a pictorial how to on their site, but I can't access their site while logged into work cuz they sell guns. Go figure.
