Default Remington 597 malfunction (full-auto)

Advertise Here

I have a 597 (.22 LR) the fires a 3 round burst every once in a while. After reading an old post about some poor sap who ended up in prison for something similar, I'd like to have it fixed.

The gun is only about a month old. Should I just send it back to Remington or is there an easy fix?

Remington 100% it is there responsibility for a rifle that is triple firing, unless of course it has been "adjusted" by the user. Then I would gunsmith it or cut it into little pieces with a torch and buy another.

Or fab a suppressor and make the best racoon gun ever! J/K.

Call or email Remington and get it fixed. If you don't, let me know what unit you are assigned to; every felon needs a pen- pal...

Send it back, and complain loudly, to establish a CYA MO. Possessing this arm, and knowing it is POSSIBLE that it may"offer more that one function of its action, or fire more than one round with a single pull of the trigger" constitutes a Federal Offense, punishable by a 1year/ $25,000 fine, and maximum sentences are routinely handed out by Federal judges in such cases. Additionally, the Feds will raid your house if you are arrested confiscating ALL your preparation (food, guns, ammo, etc.); the raid would probably make national network news ("...another<GASP> "survivalist was arrested today by the brave men at BATFE...)and all your kit would be on display, like trophies from a successful hunt... I'm sure you get the picture; send it back to Remington, and bitch like a jilted prom queen! FWIW, Bone hedz

I'd start by giving it a good cleaning and lube. If that doesn't fix it, then I would call Remington. I've heard of a few guns doing that when they get dirty.
