What's the average price of 00 buckshot and slug for 12 gauge shotguns? I have been shopping around but there are a lot of choices so it's hard to find an average price so I can look for deals. Thanks

Walmart price sounds much better than I've been able to find on line. Unfortunately, my Walmart doesn't carry them so I buy at Sportsmansguide. If you go there, sign up for email specials because they periodically have specials which amount to free shipping. Federals are the cheapest I've found.

Try AmmunitiontoGo.com

250 rounds of Federal Low Recoil 9 Pellet 00 Buck = $189 ($.76 per)

250 rounds of Fiocchi Full Velocity 9 Pellet 00 Buck = $139 ($.56 per)

250 rounds of Rio Royal Full Velocity 9 Pellet 00 Buck = $120 ($.48 per)

They're the cheapest I've found, even with shipping. SG I like when they have the Fiocchi Low Recoil 9 Pellet buck, that patterns really well for me.

I haven't tried the Rio Royal, but I'm tempted by the price. I couldn't reload them for much cheaper than $.48 per round, I think I'd be at $.40 per when reloading.

SG has their Nobel Sport 12 pellet OO buck for $6.97/10rds. gets a bit cheaper in QTY, not much. It's boxed/labeled as LEO buckshot. I have used it a good bit, and it does fine.

I used to get the S&B OO buck from them, but it's hard to catch in stock right now. It's about the same price or a bit cheaper. it is 9 pellet and does very well. I prefer it.

Their Wolf is .69/rd per 100. Anyone ever tried it?

Also CTD has DOD 5/rd door breaching rds for $3.19 if anyone is interested.

Locally
Remington, Federal and Winchester, buck or slug, run about a buck a pop. Sometimes a bit less sometimes a bit more, so the average is $5.00 for a box of five.

I bought 250 rounds of Fiocchi 2 3/4" 00 buck for $150 and have found a 500 round case of RIO buckshot for $250 that I am about to order.

I have heard great reports about the RIO, and my Fiocchi shoots and patterns great.

I'd stay away from wolf, s&b, or any other buckshot that doesn't have a wad...if you like controled patters. If you like "spread" then wolf and the like is just your ticket. I poersonally like to control my buck as much as possible considering i'm responsible for every pellet.

I've liked my Fiocchi just fine (it does have a wad), and it's made in the USA.

For slugs and buck in smaller amounts wally world is hard to beat.
$12 for 15 rnds of Rem buck
$10 for 15 slugs either rem or win.

I find Rem Low Recoil Buckshot and Slugs at shows all the time for $20 a box/25.

Federal Tactical H132 00 Buck or F127 1 oz. Slugs I can get for about $45 per sleeve of 50 rds. That's local pricing.

I can't tell you current prices, as I haven't bought any for a while. But I found that Sellier & Bellot 00 buck (12 pellet) works as well as the higher dollar stuff and costs a LOT less. I got my last case from Natchez Shooters Supply.

Also, when it comes to slugs, check out Brenneke KOs. They're the single most accurate slug I've ever shot from a smoothbore, regardless of cost. They're also the lowest priced! I haven't seen them for a while, so I don't know if they're even available anymore, but if they are, you owe it to yourself to try them.

BTW, they shoot best (for me anyway) through a full choke. They're safe to shoot through chokes, and the full choke seems to stabilize them better than any others I tried. Enough for easy 75 yard headshots. I've shot over 1,500 of them through my screw in Remington full choke. You do need to check that the choke stays tight. Mine tended to start to loosen a little every 100-150 rounds or so. Buckshot does this too.

As mizer67 said check ATG

Just like other ammo it's all about the qualty.
If you watch ATG like a hawk you can get the Federal Law Enforcment Flightcontrol Tactical LE127 full power(semi-auto) or LE132 is low recoil (for pumps) 00 9 pellet buckshot @ $189/250. Known as some of the best availible.
Hornady Tap buckshot has similar performance but cost about $360/250.
They have Remington LE TAC 8 for $215/250. Otherwise, might as well shop Walmart.
