If so, what did you do?
I have XD9sc and would like to make it mine. I honestly don't have any complaints about it at this time, but something to set it apart and possibly address any short comings? I was thinking of night sights, an extended magazine release, extended slide release, and a metal guide rod. |

Night sights +1
I'd pass on the rest. Ext mag release on a ambi gun? Why? Ext slide release? It's just gonna get in the way of your thumb and lock the slide back when you least want it to. The guide rod is made of polymer for a reason. Why fix what ain't broke? These are just my opinions, so take it for what it is. |

As an XD armorer and owner I hope I can shed some light for you, though most if this is my personal experience and opinion only.
Night sights are a pretty good idea for any combat weapon. As for an extended slide release, I would like to actually like to cut mine down since my fat thumbs tend to ride on it, causing it to not lock back when empty. As for the extended mag release, are you a righty? The XD is awesome for righties in the fact that you can release the mag with your right index or middle finger which is much faster than the standard thumb method used on most handguns. The only real modification I've made to my XD besides night sights, is to stipple the grip. I tend to have sweaty hands, so this may not be for everyone. This modification is permanent so take that into consideration. Other than that, I would leave it alone. It's a great weapon. |

I have the XD40 in a 4 inch.
The first modification I did myself was install a Don's Guide Rod. I bought my XD 3 years ago and at the time the factory guide rod was not very XD. I also went with a #22 spring. I dont know if they still ship with the same crappy factory rod but if they do I would change it out. check out http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/dons-gu...e-rod-faq.html I just took my XD in yesterday to get tritium sites installed on it. Sites cost me $85 and the gunsmith charges $25 to install. About the only other customization I might do at some point would be to add laser sites to it. edit: Another thread on the guide rod http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/ha...xd-owners.html Last edited by Colorado Rancher; 07-23-2009 at 02:20 PM.. |

Springer Precision for a mild trigger job to take some slack out of the trigger and eliminate the over travel. About $200 with shipping both ways. Greatly enhance any XD.
