I would put a big equal sign between these two pistols in terms of quality.
Having said that, Glock advantage - the parts and acessories for Glocks are everywhere. You can't find any replacement parts for the XD, you have to send it back to the manufacturer for any repairs. If you think SHTF ever happens, you want spare parts in your tool box. Also, more durable finish. XD advantage - more safety features then Glock and the grip is better fitted for shooters with small hands. |

Glock is a MUCH better pistol than an XD and you can actually get your Glock pistol serviced. With an XD pistol if it needs any service you have to ship it back to the manufacturer. The Glock also has fewer parts to break than the comparable XD pistol. Fewer parts is actually better. Think of the XD as the gun needed to fill the vacuum left behind by the ban on all the Saturday night specials. Go Glock and don't look back. That's why Glock has a 70% share of the police market and the XD pistols don't...

I have had both in .40.
I loved both of them. My personal choice was the XD as it felt better in my hand and I shot more accurately with it, even though the Glock has the better reputation and know long-term reliability. That is why you should always have a Glock for SHTF, and whatever fits you better for normal use. Get both if you like both. |

I have shot the D and it's okay, but I own 8 Glocks and Glock Rules!
There are fewer moving parts in a Glock, and fewer things to go wrong, I'm also a Glock Armorer. I wold also take a look at the cost for extra magazines, some people miss that until they go looking to buy magazines. Half of my Glocks are the "C" model and hat just makes them easier to control, andit does NOT blind you in dark shooting, like some people say. The only reason why they say that is because they have Not shot one in low light. As soon as I shot a Glock 23C in low light, I had to get a few of the "C" model Glocks. |

I do own 2 Glocks and like them very much they are a very quality made pistol. I also own a SA 45 XD and I would have to say that it is the best shooting 45 out of the box that i have shot. If you are looking for a good high capacity 45 I would buy an XD. Go to a shooting range and see if you could rent one of each and see what you like best. Purchasing a gun is like buying a car. It is what suits you best. Good luck with your purchase.

I have had Glocks in one form or another for over 20 years, the product is so good I own 3 and would like to own 4 or more. Whatever fits your hand the best. and you shoot well with. would be the one that I would purchase. regardless of which Glock or Springfield then practice, practice, practice.

Not really true, picked up my Taurus 1911 for $550, from what I could see is about the price of the XD's and glocks. But its irrelevant if the person is looking for a polymer framed handgun.

I own a glock 27 in .40 and a H&K USP.40...honestly I like the glock better...even though its been pimped out... 3.5lb trigger, extended mag release, night sights, 16lb recoil spring.....The USP is stock...H&K doesnt make any up grades other than night sights....

Springfield XD.
I've had Glocks, but I prefer the "angle position" of the XD. (Many folks have talked about this concerning a Glock.) Nothing wrong with a Glock, and extremely reliable, but I am more accurate with an SA XD and just as reliable. Nutnfancy on Youtube did a great review of it, even though he's a glock guy. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
