Default AR-15 milspec vs. commercial

I just bought a Rock River complete lower. How can I tell if its milspec or commercial?

it will say 5.56 on barrell or lower unit.. it will have non select fire...

It's commercial. Mil-spec applies to many different features of a weapon.

Here is the infamous comparison chart of AR's....

at the bottom of the page it says "comparison" click that and it will bring up the actual chart.

Understand that by no means does not having a mil-spec AR mean that your rifle is somehow inferior.

48off, the chart MCDoberman linked to is a a good resource. Bear in mind milspec also refers to the way the parts fit together. In other words, 10 different manufacturers can build 10 different parts and they will all fit fine on the rifle. BTW, I have a Rock River Arms AR-15 and like it a lot. I am very pleased with the quality and especially the nice 2 stage trigger. Have fun with th rest of your build.
