Post Cell Phone EMP Protection

Advertise Here

In the event of an EMP attack, the most important Electronics you will want to protect are usually small; Cell Phone, 2 way radio, Digital Camera etc.
Due to their small size, these are fairly easy to defend against EMP, and you can do this with inexpensive items that will hardly leave a mark on your wallet.
-----------
Materials Needed

  • Small Ziplock bags
  • "Heavy Duty" Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil

-----------
-----------
Step 1:

Cut 3 pieces of Aluminum Foil about 11 inches wide and 12 inches long.

-----------
Step 2:

Put your cell phone in the ziplock bag for sizing.

-------------
Step 3:

Start forming the pouch, try to make it as uniform and well defined as you can.
Also try to leave 2 inches or so of foil above the actual electronic you are protecting, this will leave room to fold the pouch over.

------------
The End Results

To seal the electronic, fold over the pouch tightly like your saving food or something.
To test it, call your phone.
It should not go through.

Regards and happy Surviving!

Dumb question... if there was an EMP attack, then isn't it safe to say.... the cell phone companies won't be operating, therefore protecting your cell phone is rather useless?

Same goes for portable radios, since the radio stations would be out of business.

Yeah they would.
Im just using that as an example, I don't have a 2 way radio set yet.

Also, once the S has stopped Hitting the fan, the only working cell phone in the country would sell reeeeal well on Ebay.
(If your computer worked... theres always something lol)

Not if there's not another phone to call, if satellites are down/destroyed too, or if there is not a computer or internet to sell via ebay.

Clever idea, but unless all cell phone providers and towers are EMP proof. Few if any are, then this prep won't matter.
