We all know about fruits, herbs, and nuts for perennial foods, but I figured to make a handy list that excludes those three obvious choices. This way when someone is looking for alternatives for permaculture there is a list to consult. Describe it if you like but I'll just be posting its common name and Wiki link. Interested folks can start their research from Wiki and go from there. As long as it can be made to grow perennially somewhere in the US it qualifies for the list.
I'll update the list from your posts every few days. Remember, it must be a perennial that can grow in the US, has food value, and isn't a fruit/herb/nut.
Also, there are a lot of perennial foods where the tubers are edible. But you have to pull and replant it, making it still basically a one shot meal unless you are going to resow it. I'd like to leave those off the list too. I'm just shooting for plants that keep producing food and require little work once established.
