Default ID these tracks

This tracks were found along a shallow creek in East Texas. What kind of tracks do you think they are?

Location: East Texas, just north of Beaumont

Date: January 18th, 2008

Can you roughly tell the distance from the rear prints to the front?
Were the rear prints wider apart than the front? ( as in the rear hips were likely wider than the front)

The gait doesn't look right for a coon either, further the rear and fore paw prints on a coon are very different, the front on a coon looks like a human hand almost while the rear has the back of the pad forming a point.

For reference here are some coon tracks.
http://www.bear-tracker.com/coon.html

I honestly think these are two sets of tracks, not canine as they have four pads, these clearly have 5, just the rear print doesn't look anything like a coon rear paw print.

In this image you can see the five claws/pads but the shape isnt right for a coon, these are symmetrical to an extent while rear coon prints are not even like that on the two middle toes.

Do you have a dog handy? They have 4 pads and a dew claw.

A raccoon has a well defined thumb.

My opinion is that what you have there is a skunk print, always hard for me to tell from a photo, but that's my best guess. To have any chance of a true identification I'd have to use one of my references, which I don't like to do until I form my opinion.

At first I was thinking coyote amidst the coon tracks as the shape of the pads are narrow and pointed with defined claws like that except for the 5th or dew claw, yeah it is low enough but up here you rarely see it on their tracks. Coyotes have a nice pad definition like the picture, just rarely see any dewclaws.

The fifth claw on this track sets way back on the right side compare to a rear coon track.

That one just looks odd to me, not used to seeing that much symmetry in a rear coon track.

I see three different sets, bear, cat, coon.
but camera distance from target, weight distribution of creature, walk/run/hop/limp?,
was it leaning or off balance?
all these and more could vary the image you see.

It's a huge Mink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Runnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!

Before the anti fur movement they use to attack the neck region of women and Elton John. I would get the heck outta there.

Those are skunk tracks. The curved claws make them look like badger but I believe they are skunk. Pretty big for skunk but then, everythings bigger in Texas. Follow 'em and find out.
