Who is to blame for this nations current situation?

If you voted for president bush 8 or 4 years ago - I blame you.

If you voted for your current elected official - I blame you.

If you voted third party, against your current elected official or against george bush 8 and 4 years ago - you are not to blame.

Put the blame where is should lie - at the feet of the people that elected these bozos. I hope you are proud of yourself.

The problem is actually America and the west. The economic problem is cause by materialism. For thousands of years, man was generally happy with what he had. Then Smith and Mar redefined life as the struggle for wealth. This has devolved into the struggle for things. The man with the most toys wins.

It is something that has taken centuries to build to the point we are at today. The major problem with our economy is two-fold, it is built on consumerism and debt. We have to have the latest gadget. We have to keep moving to bigger McMansions.

But how do we pay for them. Debt. As we want more, we get deeper in debt. As we want more, we come up with transactions to generate income but not goods.

Then debt reaches a critical mass. Assets depreciate. Jobs are lost. The cascade has begun.

Bush, Pelosi, Clinton, Paul, et. al are all part of the game.

However, if our ancestors would have stayed on small farms, instead of chasing the industrial revolution, we would not be worried about an economic collapse.

I agree with your post. But we could go back even further.

Hmm. Lets start with Woodrow Wilson, who signed the Federal Reserve Act into existence. This was the beginning of the financing of this monster over us today. Made international banking barons such as the Rothchilds, Rockefellers, Schiffs, Warburgs and others our new overlords.

From this, sprung groups like the Council on Foreign Relations, who gained such political influence through their newly found bottomless pit of funds that they were able to buy politicians, media "moguls", corporate heads, and deanships in our largest universities. Let the brainwashing begin.

Because of this vast control of media, they could dictate public opinion. A political contender doesn't have a chance if THEY SAY HE DOESN'T. Only two parties are to be taken seriously because THEY SAY SO. If a 700 billion dollar Christmas present to the bankers is desired THEY GOT IT, because it's in the people's "best interests".

I put more blame on these schemers and caniving snakes than I do the American people. ...Though Americans could stand to EDUCATE themselves a little better. ...Correction - A LOT BETTER.

I have to agree.

This is just the beginning. The second wave of foreclosures is coming next year and the year after when all of those ARMs mature into their real interest rate. Then after that comes the credit card and auto loan defaults which continues the downward spiral of this well oiled economic machine we know and love.

also check out this other thread for a little more insight into what lies ahead....

If you are the typical American with eight credit cards and an $8000 balance, a typical American who borrowed 125% of home's value as a mortgage, a typical American who bought a home they could not pay for before they retire,a typical American who put down less than 5% when 20% is prudent, a typical American who borrowed against 2 incomes in a household instead of borrowing against one income and saving the other, a typical American who lives large and saves less than $500 a year, a typical American who bought an auto priced at (not valued) 125% of your gross yearly pay and on a 72 month note to boot, a typical American who has run scared and is not resuming a positive spending pattern......I blame you. If government had any role it was in artificially lowering interest rates to spur spending when Americans reached a cash flow crisis they created for themselves due to over leveraging their credit. If this doesn't describe your past behavior then you are one of the few who did not contribute, IMHO; but may still be among the many who will pay the price as this economy falters further. Thanks for allowing me to post.

Continued: find ourselves in, I want to take a moment to humbly appologize for all the unfortunate circumstances that we are all in.

Again, I want to appologize for this big fat smelly mess that we are all in.

What can I do to make it all right? Please tell me.

Who is to blame for this nations current situation?
If you google or research financial crisis you will find out that most of the pundits blame the Democrats for this mess our nation is in. Most of the serious damage was done to Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac by Bill Clinton. Clinton was the guy who tampered the most with the rules that governed both financial groups. Couple that with things like some of the Democrats, Chris Dodd for one, getting paybacks from AIG and so on it then becomes REAL EASY to understand EXACTLY who hurt our nation again.

If you voted for president bush 8 or 4 years ago - I blame you. Blame anybody you like but CONGRESS, more specifically the DEMOCRAT Congress, controls the purse strings of the nation. Bush pretty much has been a impotent little leader with an I.Q. slightly above room temperature settings. Blaming Bush shows a lack of understanding of how our government really runs.

If you voted for your current elected official - I blame you. And what if the current elected official is one doing the right things? Using kind of a broad brush there, aren't we?

If you voted third party, against your current elected official or against george bush 8 and 4 years ago - you are not to blame. Now this "thought" is interesting. You are in favor of a wasted vote??? Good one!! How about the idea that in some areas 3rd parties may not even be listed? How do you blame those people, rocket scientist?

Put the blame where is should lie - at the feet of the people that elected these bozos. I hope you are proud of yourself. Okay, Mr. Perfect. I blame you for NOT running for election. If you're so perfect, how come you aren't in elected office instead of the bozos? YOU are the one who denied the rest of us your "perfection." Okay, where's that rope? The tar and feathers?

I disagree.

Many conflicts through history are the result of an intense desire to expand an empire. Mankind has been driven toward conquest for most of its history. This isn't a recent development. In terms of modern materialism, perhaps the reasons have changed, but there will always be someone who thinks that their ideals and vision are best for humanity and will do what ever it takes to push that vision on the rest of us.

McMansions and giant SUV's are only the latest development in a long, long line of worldly possessions that man has striven for.

Politicians are only cogs in the wheel of the machine. They are the enablers because they choose to be. When one of those cogs decides that the direction the machine is turning is wrong, they're replaced as defective equipment.

Yep, lets blame Bush. I blame him most for declaring war on terrorists that previously had killed Americans at whim. Blame Bush for forcing the banks to make house loans to people working at McDonalds for $7.00 a hour. Blame Bush for Katrina, Ike and 911 that cost millions of dollars. Blame Bush for for alot of things but do it fairly.
Put the blame on the American people that keeps re-electing the same greedy SOBs in Congress over and over.
