.223 vs 30-30 I happen to own both. I use my 30-30 for hunting. The .223 for plinking. It has become an economic thing to me. 30-30 the rounds will stop just about any creature under the sun with the right placement. .223 is my range gun and I shoot very often. It has been said before, gun control is simply the ability to hit your intended target. Buy both and we won't have to bail out the firearms industry tomorrow. Hope it helped.

Given that information, me personally go for the 30-30 it is a better stopping round. Currently over in the Middle East where we have troops deployed there is talk about sending a bunch of M1's to the front lines because they have better stopping power at a greater distance. Seems that ther is a problem with the .223 in order for it to be effective you have to be closer to the "unfriendlies" and that means that they can utilize RPG's on our boys.
There will come a time when this economy turns around and you will be able to get yourself an addition to your gun cataloge. |

Just go over to Clemson gun and Pawn already and buy yourself a rifle. Make up your mind and go get it. Better yet, go in there, and tell the guy behind the counter what you want to hunt, and he'll hand you the rifle you need for the job.

In my research on the development of the round .223/5.56. They needed a weapon in then Southeast Asia that would allow our boys to carry a lighter gun and more ammo. The higher velocity bullet was meant to go through the intended target and not kill him, but just to take him and one or two of his compadres with him, and render them "out of action".

Clemsonguy81:
Go for the 30-30. You won't be sorry. Just be sure to get extra ammo, ammo, ammo. get some now and get as much as you can...even if it's only 2 boxes a week! I love my 30-30..only thing i had trouble killing with it was beavers. Tough hides ya know. Had a freind of my nephews last year invite us to one of his 200+ acre timber tracts that had 5 ponds on it to help get rid of them. We hunted from the boat. It was a blast! Got $5 for each tail. |

If you've ever seen Kevins videos on youtube or even on here, his son has a marlin 336 30-30 and he shot a 6 point deer with it. Its weird cause I'm watching the video before I checked this thread out.
![]() So, check out Kevins videos and you'll learn alot. I know I've learned quite a bit in 12 hours just watchin his videos. |

Enough.
Clemsonguy, make up your mind, and confine your questions about "which gun I should buy" in a previous thread you created for that subject. Kahn, no need to be rude. If you have a problem with a member, instead of bashing him/her, send a PM to a mod or take it up in the grievence section. First and only warning. SOLIDUS |
