Why do people who live in the cities think they will be welcomed in the country /rural communities ?

I think moving out of the city will be mine . And as for not being welcome 30 percent of the land area of the United States is owned by the government I will annex some.

I just finished reading One Second After. It wasn't the best written book...but an easy read. It definitely opened my eyes to the fact that Americans would have a difficult time adapting long term if all power and communication were lost nationwide due to something like an EMP.
Chances are that really horrible people who would resort to cannibalism and hang decapitated heads on poles (and much worse) in the city and remote areas alike...especially when all food was gone. I hope I never have to find out!

It may be, for some, that it would be a better idea to wait a bit before leaving. And even then, leaving altogether may not be the best thing for everyone to do.

There was huge topic about Selco and how he survived in Bosnia...
There was also discussion around Selco that he might be a fake. Top of that couple guys claim that Selco have been claiming in different survival forums how he survived this and that wars or situations..

I asked a proof because someone claim here that he had them. After that, the whole topic was gone and everything where anyone said anything about him at all!
I asked it about moderators and they told me, there is a reason for this but they don't tolerance talking about Selco's experience in this forum and everything will be deleted... So i guessed Selco was fake after all.

Right now, we have couple topics where people are quoting Selco and his "experience."
This make me somehow sad... If he was BS and right now there isn't anything here to show it anymore because of deleting everything...
And now guys are reading his experiences like a true again and posting those here as a truth.

I also have to ask, how many this kind of topics here are going to be? I'm really get bored when some guys from country come to the urban section to tell time at time, how cities are dead traps.
And after that city folks come to explain their perspective of things...

Not all cities are dead traps after all. This is my perspective of view of my city: population 180 000.

Do this look like a dead trap? Forest everywhere what you can see... Some where middle of it, are couple of apartment houses and shops...

Initially any city will be a very dangerous place but as many leave and or die it will get safer and safer!
With some preparation and enough numbers a group can survive in the city.
Yes there will be gangs and they will have the same problems as you
Just solve your problems better!!!

The Department of Homeland Security will move those armored cars into the cities and they will protect you! Martial law and a soup line awaits those city dwellers....hope I'm still alive to see this!

Thanks for sharing this info. I found the link last year under Must Reads and it is still there. How pathetic that someone would make up such a story!

People always say the food will run out in the cities so tell me this - Where is all the food stored out in the country? It will run out there just as fast and I will be in a new strange (to me) environment.

The food warehouses will be in or near the cities even so I doubt this will help me.

But I do know my neighborhood and a few of my neighbors.
If SHTF I know who I can talk to and organize a watch with.
The first thing my neighbors and I would do is block the ends of the street and alleys to keep strangers out.

I don't have the money to quit my job and move to the country but even if I did there is something to be said about strength in numbers.

Plus the pidgeon, crow and seagull population is booming not to mention stray cats - between my pellet rifle and .22's I might be able to live better than out in the country.

You gotta play the hand your dealt and theres no way I'm going to be able to bug out so unless its radiation or something where I can't stay I'm bugging in.

Two things consistently ignored by our "rural" brethren when starting these threads:

1. When "assistance" comes (and I am talking more about power technicians, heavy crane operators, fuel supplies, and any commodity still connected to a free-market economy......and not FEMA camps); it will flow to significant population centers first.

2. There is a significant number of bottom-feeding, scum-sucking, entitlement-thinking bunch of neer-do-wells in the country as well. The biggest difference between them and their city cousins is.....they know how to shoot.

Something to think about. We who live in the city already have.

As a country boy, the very worst thing about living in a city post-SHTF, that I can think of, will be the disposal of refuse. If that problem is not solved and solved quickly, the city becomes a breeding ground for disease.

I prepare as best I can for whatever may or may not happen. I have family issues that have caused me to travel a lot recently and I worry more about being on the road between the two cities where my family resides. Four hundred thirty miles apart. Whether or not I am a city kid or a country boy it pays to plan for surprises. You just never know.

I really don't think you want the rotting flesh to draw flies and desease.

But you might create a burrial yard at the end of the neighborhood, people tend to use as an enterence.
That way visitors can look for their relatives.
If they want to create problems too, they can be burried there too.

You don't actually have to use real decapitated heads to scare people off.
Just make them out up using Masks, paper and glue, paint, stuff like that.
There are all kinds of trick to scare people away. Signs that say " Electrified
Fence" " Beware of Dogs" " No Trespassing -Will be shot on sight"

I'm guessing you guys are mostly just joking around. But seriously the tricks
you can use are many and most people will just run off in another direction.
They will be worried about finding a safe place to go and get food not mess
with getting shot and or mauled by dogs.
