Default Type 1 Diabetes

My girlfriend has type 1 diabetes and i have wondering if there is anything i could use in a SHTF scenario that could replace insulin or at least lower her dependence. For anyone who doesn't know, type 1 and type 2 diabetes are not the same, she can't just lose weight and be able to eventually have her beta cells function better. What matters most for type 1 diabetes is carbs, so the only solution I could think of is to have her eat red meat since it doesnt have any carbs and use multi-vitamins to give her the nutrients that are missing in a meat only diet. Any ideas would be useful, thanks.

EDIT: I just saw the sticky about insulin, but I am going to leave this up in case someone has something else to say about the subject
