Looking at putting one on for the Newb and the old timers...what are your thoughts as to who should be invited for booth rentals and any other things to consider...

Check out this link:

It's the event schedule for the 2011 fair in Knoxville, TN. Might give you some ideas.

They are having another one in a couple weeks - Sept 22nd.

Invite the LDS (Latter Day Saints) - they have a good handle on long term food storage.

Thanks for the link, that was the direction I was thinking of going...

This whole thing got stared when the local LDS had one (members and invites only, go figure) but that gave me the idea. But the folks in this community would have a better idea of what needs to be covered for a focus.

The Fire department and Red Cross are usually willing to make an appearance.

Perhaps you can contact some food storage and water filtering outfits and see what you can drum up.

Your local CERT is another good one. Maybe your local emergency manager, if they are properly engaged they will help.

Have booths that cover the basic survival necessities like water, shelter, food fire starting, etc. I would have some other sellers that sell knives, hatchets, and various survival related electronic. Of course, hand made good are always welcomed.

The people who I wouldn't invite are the ones who sell their products and ridiculously high prices and those that sell bottom of the barrel china crap. I'm not saying inexpensive good but just downright crap

You might browse your local gun show to check for vendors to invite. Often there will be preparedness folks selling there. And there may even be a gun dealer or two you might want. But it's a good way to see who your local vendors are.
