Default Bug Out at Sea!!! The alternative to underground

Advertise Here

Hey everyone!!!!! Im a life long boater and prepper. I have always planned on bugging out on my boat. I recently posted a website to organize my fellow preppers who wish to go to sea instead of underground.

Several threads on the same topic were merged into one thread. Let's not SPAM our own board having the same discussion across multiple sections. Thanks.

True, but you can see a hurricane coming and have a chance of driving your boat out of the way. That's much harder with an earthquake and a house.

All the billionaires will be bugging out to sea ...

Lots of them own islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans, and 100ft yachts.

One big problem I see.

The ocean is saltwater.

You can't drink it.

My thought has always been... When "it" hit the fan my boat is equipped with everything for survival... Boats are inherently designed to be self sufficient. For example... My boat holds 5OO gallons of diesel, 200 gallons of freshwater, and can go for 4 days on the battery bank without using a drop of diesel.. And its not made for preppers, just boaters.....

I don't blame you for being excited, and I wish you the very best of luck!

But please realize that no website will want to be your advertising ground. You're more than welcome to become one of us and chat and contribute! I'm fascinated by the sea and boats, and I would LOVE to hear about what you're doing.

Boats can make an excellent bug out location. Blue water capable boats are already prepped for long term off grid life. Unfortunately, blue water capable boats are half again to double the cost of a standard boat of equivalent size.

I have put a little thought into this my self.

You must admit that coming in here and posting your website first rattle out of the box did seem a bit, ah, how to delicately put this, spammish... Welcome aboard, though, and take a little time looking around and posting. DIY is a good place, as is the Farm-Garden-Recipe forum.

Thanks everyone.. Especially Mike K for understanding.... Ive been a long time boater and survivalist... Not so much computer expert... I really want to get more like minded people together in the South Florida area /// and around the country... This is the only way I've been able to get an audience.. Being a boater and prepper it always made sense to me that the two go hand in hand, but I cant find anywhere that shares my view. SO ANYTHING you want to know about the life at sea and how practical it would be as a way to bug out!!! ask me.... As I said horrible at computers,,, outstanding at open ocean!!!

I agree to you regarding blue water boats and the cost... However you would be surprised how cheap a moderate sized ocean going trawler or sailboat is going for in this economy.. But having a boat that will hit the deep blue sea is not necessarily what most would need.. Getting to an anchor point further that the moron looters and criminals can swim to would be more than sufficient in that situation... you avoid traffic,, get your electric from solar,, use a watermaker if your freshwater tank runs dry... the ability to comfortably stay out of reach for many months is amazing on a boat
