Default Most Ferocious Animal - Pound For Pound

Advertise Here

I created a similar poll here a few years ago but I'm altering my choices this time. Anyway, what do you believe is the most ferocious and vicious animal (other than human) on earth pound for pound. Think about the "pound for pound" remark. There are some very tough and mean creatures under 10 pounds.

Badgers have a really nasty attitude but I have to go with the rhino. Of the critters listed the rhino is the most likely to attack whether provoked or not.

I don't know any humans who could take on a wolverine without some sort of weapon in his hand. And the wolverine weighs less.

Thanks for playing along.

Badgers are tough little critters but that Rhino can run up to 40MPH.

Hippopotamus is up there.

Darn! I checked other, and then noticed Hippo was an option. This is why I will be at the back of the line when getting into Heaven.

Salt Water Crocodile would be a great option too and Killer Whale. Killer Whales, while not overly dangerous to people, are ferocious predators and are the only large animal I know of that hunts for sport.

Funny how all my choices all involve animals that like water. Ahhh I am an aquaphile. I grew up around water, have worked on it, played on it, and a have a love hate relationship with the stuff.

The tiger shrew, it has to eat about 10 times its weight in meat every 24 hrs. I saw a show where, in a cage, it attacked, killed and ate a norway wharf rat. the size differential was like a dog attacking an elephant.it attacks everything that crosses its path, from grasshoppers to rats!!!!!

LOL. I'll let you cut in front of me in the Heavenly line.

I grew up around water too. Hung out at Newport Beach, CA often.

The standard is pound for pound and that changes things dramatically.

One of the strongest animals, by weight is the mole, and both the mole and related shrew, they must catch, kill, and eat and incredible amount of living creatures to survive. The shrew can even kill animals larger than itself and must nearly continually kill and eat to survive.

If shrews were the size of pitbulls, they'd be serious problems...although they'd have simply eaten away available food sources too quickly.

Wolverine or Badger? Wolverines are bad news but I've never dealt with one so I can only base an opinion on what I've seen on TV documentaries. I have however on two occasions run into Badgers and trust me they have absolutely no fear or a sense of humor. Based on personal experience with them and none with a Wolverine, the Badger gets my vote.

Well ... we know who's the toughest between a Cape Buffalo and a Rhino. The Rhino is definitely the king:

Humans because they attack when they are not defending themselves.
