Default Remington 798 in .308

Advertise Here

I am thinking of buying a used Remington 798 in .308. The guy wants $450 for it, does this seem to be a fair price? I cant seem to find much info on this particular model. Does anyone have any experience with this rifle?

I know that this rifle has the Mauser bolt action, with controlled feed and a walnut stock not laminate. I did find out that Remington only imported these for a few years. I wonder why and if that is a good sign that this rifle isnt all that great.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've heard good things about the Zastava actions (The action on the 798) and the 308 is an all around great cartridge but haven't heard much about the rifle as a whole. Personally, I think it would be worth the money to get and try since you can probably get the investment back on it.

425 to 450 is the going price, it is a decent gun.

Default Remington 798

Hello MisterX, I was just curious , How did the Remington 798 work out for you. I'm looking at picking one up myself in 308 also, You can't go wrong with that battle proven Mauser action... I just hope I can find one..
