I was watching a Dave Canterbury video on youtube where he recommends using tarred Bank line/trotline in your survival kit/BOB in place of 550 Paracord...anyone have experience using it? Does it work well?

Haven't used it yet... but I just got a roll at walmart, 486', 235 lb tensile strength rolled up to about the size of 150' paracord for $7. Gonna try it next trip.

I carry both actually.. The bank line is cheaper, so I use that for setting up tarps and stuff that uses disposable lengths. I save the paracord for the heavier duty jobs...

The bank line gets tangled easily, so beware if you take it off the roll

I like the bank line for its designed use... Trot lines. I can put 20 baited hooks in the water instead of one and have them fishing for me all day. It will last a really long time and provide you with lots of food.

As Gwynn says, it is great for tying down tarps and tents. Way cheaper to cut up too.

Yeah I got me a spool the other day at Walmart too and I am really curious as to how well it will actually hold up.

Have you guys used it for anything else? Im just curious what all it can be used for....would it hold up braided and used for lashings on a shelter or similar? I would think it would with the heavier weight stuff??
