Default Ruger mark iii 22/45 magazines

Advertise Here

Hello, i've been looking for ruger 22/45 magazines- wondering if anyone knows a place that may still have them in stock. I've checked all the usual places, brownelles, midwayusa, wholesale sports, cabelas- all out of stock.

I always got mine at a gunshow. Usually somebody there with the cases full of various clips.

$20 at CDNN. $10 flat shipping, though. Worth it if you you're buying several, I guess:

EDIT: buckfynn is correct, this is for MKII 22/45 only, not the current 22/45 model. Sorry.

Out of stock everywhere I looked, looks like someone bought every 22/45 mark III mag in the country and cornered the market, sucks

Better buy this one, it appears to be the last one on the planet.

The mags are dramatically different. The CDNN link is for the correct model.

The part number (Ruger 90045) listed in the link you provided is for a Ruger MII 22/45.

The correct part number for a Ruger MIII 22/45 is Ruger 90229.

The magazines are not interchangeable between the MKII and MKIII on stock Ruger 22/45's.

Well, shiver me timbers, let me apologize profusely, I was dead wrong, assuming he has the latest 22/45.

I'm simply zapping my previous post, and adding edit to the first one -- this one can stand as chagrin. Again, mea culpa.

(PMed OP to alert him, in case he was gonna take my wrong suggestion)

No problem, no foul, Oh Shoot.

And for whatever it is worth, I purchased a Ruger MKIII 22/45 5.5" Stainless Target with the bull barrel less than two weeks ago on a closeout special at Sportsman's Warehouse. It came with two magazines. The first one worked flawlessly. The second one self destructed the first time I put it in the firearm. After 45 minutes on the phone on hold, the Ruger customer service lady told me to send the broken one back and Ruger would send me a replacement. I'll give an update on the forum to see how long it takes Ruger to send me a replacement.

A fellow from the Rim Fire Central Forum just found some which I listed below.

This place has 106 of the Ruger MIII 22/45 magazines ready to ship for 20.00 each.

http://andean-inc.com/Merchant5/merc...=R22P_magazine

I just ordered two of them.

Should call them understock.com

Why would "overstock.com" have these anyways, it is not like they are overstocked items. Goes to show you what a company name can imply (even thought they are just more of the same). Kinda like crappier than dirt.

I tried Mk II 22/45 mags in my Mk III 22/45, as well as Mk III 22/45 mags in my Mk II 22/45. They all worked fine.

Is there some reason that they are not supposed to?

Below is what a person from the Rimfire Central has to say concerning using MKII 22/45 mags in a Ruger MIII 22/45. Source:

Quote:
The functional difference between MKII and MKIII 22/45 mags is the little slot that is cut out near the top of the magazines.

A small extension off of the back of the trigger engages that slot and seats the magazine if it's not completely seated (as can happen with the mag disconnect intact.)

Sometimes there is enough play to insert a MKII mag and seat it, but as mentioned, this can be difficult.

The solution is to remove the trigger and file that small extension down. Then MKII mags work flawlessly in a MKIII 22/45.

I have done this to my MKIII's, and run MKII magazines in them all of the time with no issues whatsoever.
And a thought on the same topic from the Ruger Forum. Source:

Quote:
Take the top end off the MarkIII and look down where the trigger dimple fits into the magazine, Mark II do not have that hole. If you put a 22/45 Mark II mag in it and pull the trigger it should not fire, key word should. I have Clark triggers in both the II and the III so they all work. I pick up the 22/45 II used from a guy that sent it off to Clark and had the silver stimple done to the frame and the trigger, its a nice plinker.
I tried a friends MKII 22/45 mag in my brand new MKIII 22/45 and it did not work. The MKII 22/45 magazine would not seat properly and my pistol would not fire.

buckyfynn, thanks for that info. Both of my 22/45s have stock triggers and they both fired with either mag when I tried it at the range. I was wondering what that little slot in the magazine was for, but it doesn't seem to do anthing, at least in my MK III.

It does seem more difficult to seat the wrong magazines in the gun, but they will engage with a little extra push. It probably all just depends on how your tolerances are stacked.

I have like 8 mags in my range bag, a mix of MkII and III, and I use them interchangeably in either pistol.

I received my magazines from Andean in two days being shipped by USPS priority mail.

The magazines fit very tight in my MKIII 22/45. Hopefully they will engage and eject a little easier after using them a bit.

Out of curiosity I checked at the gun show this weekend no 22/45 mags. Didn't have any 10 rnd 10/22 mags either.

I didn't know there were 2 types of 22/45 mags. When was the split for mark 2 and 3?

A magazine arrived yesterday from Ruger CS to replace the defective one. The turn around time for the replacement mag was a few weeks which I feel is definitely acceptable.
