Default AK-47 style rifle with income tax.

well I'm about to have a few extra bucks laying around. I have a hunting rifle that fires win.308's so I'm trying to stay in that family.

Will a 7.62 AK style rifle fire the same win.308's? From my understanding the only difference is barrel pressure and case thickness.

Would this depend more on the rifle itself or ammo used? I've heard many times I can fire surplus NATO 7.62 rounds through my .308 so shouldn't the opposite be true?

Are you talking about a rifle like the Saiga .308 that's chambered in .308 or are you asking a reloading question about the bullet itself?

I'll try to answer this the best I can.

The Saiga .308 is labeled to shoot 7.62x51. So shooting either 7.62x51 nato or 308 should be fine in the rifle.

Now if you are asking if a standard AK-47-74-101 or whatever will shoot 7.62nato if reloaded into a X39 cart. The answer would be no. Or if th 308 will chamber in an x39. Again no.

The 7.62x39 cart is actually .310 to .311 not .308.

Hope that helps.

As stated, a 7.62x51 (or .308) AK will be able to fire the same ammo as a .308 hunting rifle.

A 7.62x39 will NOT.

the ak round is 7.62x39 .

308 winchester = 7.62nato (aka 7.62x51)

however, the ak comes in different rounds

here is a .308 ak

but there are better options in my opinion than this rifle. I would go with a rifle that has been adopted by a military like the FAL, m1a, g3 etc.

It sounds like you were thinking like how you can shoot 38 spl threw a .357 :-)

I was asking about the rifle itself, I suppose it's an un-answerable question as I don't have the model\manufacturer. *palm to face* Should have thought this through before I posted.

I don't have the equipment to self load yet and most certainly don't have the experience.

Thanks for the replies I had the round sizes backwards. I thought that the AK was 7.62x51 and the .308 was 7.62x39.
So I need just look for a win.308 chambered AK.

Hope that they still make them like they used to! Thank you for the clarification on that!
