Brother you saved us a ton of time by putting together this list. If I was in your neck of the woods I would shake your hand and help you plant your fields.

Is there a way for members to vote on awards? I don't know anything about them.

Wow just what I was looking for, Great thread.

I'm a Total Mylar Noob so I do have a question to add.

Q: can you make your own MRE in a Bag as opposed to just storing indredients and goods longterm? If so is there a MYLAR Recipe thread? Cuz I think there should be..unless I missed it.

Bump. The OP should be in a required viewing section for newbies. Sticky has been removed for whatever reason.

We had a ton of stickies at one point and people complained so Kevin cleaned them up. I agree with the required reading though and would like to see it re-stickied on its own. BUT, it is still stickied in here in a perfectly fine catalog that every one should read through hence, the title "List of Important Threads". There are a ton of good threads listed in there. They can't sticky every relevant thread; sometimes an inexperienced person just needs to look around some.

Yeah things got overstickied no doubt. The post of "list of important threads" is very comprehensive and useful. But it is a compilation of a compilation of threads. Humans have an ever decreasing attention span, and an ever increasing desire for instant gratification. Most newbies will never dig thru a compilation of a compilation of threads to find information. Instead, they will clutter the board with 10-15 new posts every week asking questions that are Prepper 101. I suppose that is good as it keeps the board from becoming a library and I imagine it helps generate money in some fashion. I just wis newbies had their own section that they needed to graduate from somehow before coming to the main board and dragging us all back thru kindergarten level threads. Maybe the forums platform doesn't allow that much control? Or maybe it would require too much moderation time IDKnow. Somehow it would be nice to filter out some of the beginner level threads.

This thread of TX Hills is a comprhensive HOW TO of a singular subject that generates a lot of newbies posts. It really merits a sticky in and of itself IMHO.

For my own use, I have just dropped a link in my control panel so when I need it, I can find it quickly.
