Default SKS trigger assembly

Yesterday I broke down my SKS for a cleaning. It's a stock Norinco. Now for some reason I cannot get the trigger housing to snap back in. No matter how much pressure I apply it gets stuck somewhere. Sometimes the whole barrell assembly will lift out of the stock when I get it to where it looks like it almost should lock in. It's always been difficult but this time it's impossible. I really had to push down on the lever that locks the triggy assembly in place while disassembling it this time.

I've looked & nothing looks out of place or bent/warped. Anybody have this problem before or have any suggestions?

Is your safety on or off. You'll bend the crap out of your safety if it's off. It happens. Never to me of course.

Look under the maintenance instructions here and see if you see anything your doing wrong. There is also a video on the bottom right column.

A couple quick tip, make sure the safety is on and the hammer is cocked before trying to reinstall the trigger group,if not you can cock the hammer by hand.

Place the receiver installed in the stock top down on a hard surface with the bolt, carrier, return spring assembly and dust cover removed. Install your magazine then the trigger group. Sometime the trigger groups are very had to snap in on some SKS rifle for the last little bit required to lock the trigger group in align it and place both hands one on top of the other on the trigger guard and press down using all your weight it may take several tries. Now you can install all the top parts.

My safety was in the right position. I decided since I had it apart I would go ahead & paint it & figure it out later. Decided to put some digital camouflage on it . I'll post pics of it when i'm done. Thanks for the help fellas.

Well I figured it out fellas. The peg in the front of the stock had twisted a little & wasn't allowing the magazine to fully seat. Gave it a little turn with some pliers & the trigger assembly snapped right in.
