Missing People, Where Do They Go?

I recall one time how missing children used to have a space on the back of the milk carton? or other breakfast item with info on missing since when..etc and a picture.

Some local community free newspapers/ad fliers still do this type of service but by and large it has disappeared.

Over the years I have heard different rumors on what happens to missing people and children.

Has anyone ever heard about what happens to missing people?

Any law enforcement folks like to weigh in?

Some are kidnapped. Some are then sold.
Some are killed.
Some just don't want to be found.
Some end up on the streets can for various reasons can't be found.

Human trafficking is a BIG and VERY profitable "business" everywhere in the world, including the USA.

It only takes a moment for a couple of strong muscular guys to grab a child, or a young woman, off a public street and force that person into a van. The van immediately leaves the scene of the abduction........and another statistic is added to the list of missing persons.

Most people live in a dream world of their own construction. How many times have you seen an attractive young woman walking along on a public street.......cell phone glued to her ear........not paying any attention to what is going on around her?? Or a cute young kid on a skateboard, equally unaware of anything except the music he is probably listening to??

We live in an increasingly dangerous and brutal world. But, somehow, most people still think the really bad stuff always happens to someone else.

A mixture of the movie "taken", the music video Runaway Train, aliens are possible IMO,otherwise they are...killed, raped then killed, sold, buried, drown etc, burned, chopped up by a bushhog(Local guy)...etc etc... They found two guys that ran off the road a while back into a lake, only found them due to a drought last summer.

I once read that in L.A. alone had 3000 slaves. This was awhile and at the time the article was already 2 or 3 years old, but I don't thinks it changed. Something like 1 million people go missing each year many are never seen again.

Saw a show on TV a few months back about a group of retired SF guys that do child recovery operations. Until then I didnt realize it was a big issue. But it seems to be pretty big, especially in the south west, where children are snatched and sent to South America and sold into sex slavery.

They covered this one story where a 4 or 5 yr old girl was snatched from her front yard (pretty slick set-up). A private investigator was brought in and tracked the girl to SA, though it took over a year, US police couldnt/wouldnt go get her so this team of guys was hired. They went in, 'cleared' the area and wound up rescuing the little girl and 20 others.

I wish I could remember the name of the show and the group they covered, it was good to see that SOMEBODY out there has more balls than our police and feds to go do what needs to be done in those situations.

I wouldn't really say it's getting any more dangerous. I think it's always been this way. Historically speaking, it was only recently (maybe the past 150 years) that slavery wasn't the accepted reality. Most leaders the world over just assumed that it was the way the world worked.

It ain't a matter of balls...It's a matter of jurisdiction, logistics, and politics in a foreign country.

I'm not thinking (pick a country in SA) would take kindly to American police coming over there all heavy. I know my department wouldn't condone any ninja raids by a group of the guys. But I can tell ya it ain't from a lack of guys who would be happy to go do it.

What probably happened in this case was that these guys put the habeas grabbus on the kid of some guy who had the money to hire himself some mercs to undertake a rescue mission.

As far as what happens to them...

Any number of things you can imagine and many more you can't.

Sex trades
Slave trades (there will always be a need for cheap labor)
Babies kidnapped and sold on the black market to someone wanting a kid and then raised as their own
Pedophiles - for a one time gig or to keep in the basement as a toy for awhile
Rapists (same as pedophiles)
All the possibilities mentioned in above posts
etc. etc. etc.

Many are kids who are just not happy at home. They leave, get in with the wrong crowd, then OD or meet some other untimely fate.

this is more rare of an occurrence than americans being abducted into slavery. it is easier to buy a baby from a willing mother which is far more common.

bingo. thats where most of the missing people go...adults as well as children/teens. simple cases of running away from home.

I was not referring to individual officers. Yes theres plenty out there that I have no doubt would go in in force and handle business the same way.

I was referring to how foreign nationals come across our borders, snatch up a kid of their choosing and sell them off to some cartel or sex trade in another country. Yet our government refuses to do anything about it, even something as simple as securing the border would be a step in the right direction.

I also realize that not every 'missing person' is a crime or people that even want to be found for whatever reason.

The part that bothers me most is the ones where its a child thats been snatched for the entertainment of trash, the stories you dont hear about in the news because it 'may be too disturbing for viewers' if they really knew the evil that is out there. Those are the ones that make me sit back and wonder why we have to 'take the high road' as a country. The countries these PsOS come from dont have the desire or ability to control them but they dont want somebody else coming in to do it for them. Screw that.
