I just saw an ad for the Rossi circuit judge 410/45 revolver long gun...any thoughts on this. from what I have seen it looks like it could be a decent dual purpose firearm

I've seen them too. Thought about trying one out, the only hold up for me is the price and no reviews. It's tough to spend 500 dollars on a Rossi.

I'm hoping they come out with a "raging" version that will take the 454 round too! That would be a VERY versatile little carbine.

I've seen lots of reviews online. There's also a lengthy thread on this board as well

That's the only reason I've held off on getting one. Nothing wrong with .45 colt, but there's even less wrong with a third (much more powerful) cartridge option.

I want one, reviews are on the web. Having this during 1848 in N. California would have made you King of Coloma Hill.

While that is the only member of the 'judge family' I would have much interest in...
There are better shotguns available, and better carbines available... and I don't particularly need to have both combined into one gun.

I do agree though, a beefed-up version in 454 would be more tempting...
(And also likely much more expensive.)

I have also seen them at walmart and like the little gun. Lite handy and pretty good sights. But like many of you just cant seem to give that much for a rossi. Think would be a good home defence gun or camping. As long as you didnt take on any big bears with it. But they feel good in the hands shoulders well. But about 100$+ to high.

The same could be said of any semi-auto or pump 12ga...
With the added advantage that a 12ga might just be enough gun to handle bears as well.

I know it's not the most practical gun, but damn it...for some reason, I just want one.

let's see if they did make a 454 version.
you could take large game- moose, grizz with the 454, medium sized game with the 45 LC- deer, hogs and with the 410 small game and home defense.

That's 3 guns in one- even at around $600 that's a bargain. I really hope they make one cause I'd probably buy it.

I find it an awful temptation my self but in thtt event I think I mitght prefir the alaskan 454 casual.
It's double action, and that is meaning more, and more to me, as time goes by.
having the Rossi Puma , it would be a nice hunting companion, to it.
I look at the judge and the others but , I never really thought of the .410 as much of a shell.
Now if the barrel is a smoothe bore on the judge ,there might be some reach with the.410. and the .45 slug would not matter much . Not sure you'd use it for serious target shooting any way.
Just point it in the general direction and "think the bullet home"

That's what I thought about the judge handgun until I watched Hickok45's video review on youtube- completely changed my mind about that weapon. If you don't think 410 can be used for home defense, watch that video.
