Fluoride - instant toxic effect?

Here we have no warnings about swallowing toothpaste, still people avoid it because they have been told it can be bad for you.

But "you" have warnings that if you ingest fluoride through toothpaste you should seek help, kind of.

Now I wonder, if I bought an ultra fluoridated tube of toothpaste, and ate all the content, part from probably getting a tummy ache, what do you think would happen, if anything?

Fluoride free tooth paste is your friend. If your water is fluoridated, try to use the tap as little as possible, and certainly dont drink it.

So I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the effects of a whole tube of toothpaste probably doesn't have enough fluoride to kill. I've never heard of a case of fluoride poisoning.

I brush my teeth with a 50/50 of coconut oil and baking soda that is flavored with mint. It works great and seems to whiten better than fluoride. I use non fluoride mouthwash too.

NY Times 1.11.11: EPA Proposes Phaseout of Fluoride-Based Pesticide Read the article and you'll see that fluoride exposure above the minimum legal allowance is considered to be detrimental to teeth and to bone health. Some time in the last year the FDA said that the amount per liter of fluoride in our water should be decreased by, I believe, 40-50%. I am trying to remember the numbers, but I think it was 1.2 mg/ltr and they brought it down to .7 mg/ltr.

I hope that answers your question. It may not kill you, an adult, but a whole tube of fluoride toothpaste could kill a chile.

I once ate an entire travel size tube of Crest while riding a school bus from school to home when I was 12. I cant think of a single adverse affect I suffered from that experience. I wasnt the only one. The school district would hire dental professionals to come in and hand out tooth brushes and tooth paste to all the schools. Give a bunch of 12 yr olds something and one will find something stupid to do with it. And if one does it, others will quickly follow.
