Sig Sauer SP2022 40 cal

Thinking about buying the Sig Sauer SP 2022 in a 40 cal this weekend for all purpose use (range and self-defense) do anyone agree with this decision or do you guys suggest something else. p.s. this will be my first pistol.

I have that in 9mm it's a fine handgun..my one and only 9mm so I don't have a lot to compare it too.
I'm a .45 guy mostly.

But I have to ask...have you shot a .40 before?
Have you tried other .40's? 9mm? .45? etc?

no this will be my first time shooting. the reason why i choose it because the shop is selling it for $369.99 and the neighborhood i live in i dont think a 9mm would suffice so i took it one step up.

The Sig 2022 I've heard is a fine pistol, but short of an all out warzone or SHTF environment, the 9mm would do you just fine.

The 9mm is going to be cheaper (ammo wise), so you get more practice for your dollar. Its going to be 95% the man stopper that the .40cal is, with less perceived recoil, making follow up shots much easier. If you havent had much experience with handguns before, then get the 9mm version. A 9mm with quality hollowpoint ammunition is a good, proven manstopper.

Caveat ~~~ I do not like the .40 S&W round. Too snappy for my tastes (and I can put 150rds a range session thru my 9oz .380 LCP). In my opinion, you'd be fine with the 9mm and as a new shooter it would serve you better......

I carry the sp2022 in .40 and love it. You should carry whatever caliber you can put on target faster. I have a blog and did a video review of the gun if you would like to see, the link is in my info above.

I just got this the last week and I must say It is one sweet shooting pistol. I have shot 250 rounds thru it flawlessly. I doubt you will regret it as a first Firearm.

Have a SP 2022 in 9mm and while I love it, I'd say get the .40...yes you pay a little more for ammo, but you get a little more stopping power...but the most IMPORTANT factor is, you don't get the over penetration of the 9mm (think..while you may be legally justified to shoot the person in front of you, you are not justified to shoot the person it hits after it blows through him! ...) The Sig sp2022 IMO is far superior to any Glock I've shot (yes...I've shot quite a few) and while I like the Springfield XD...the Sig is cheaper. Glocks do not have the DA/SA ability , they do not have a de-cocker...etc...The XD is awesome, but about $100 or so more than the SP 2022 at the moment from most places I've seen...IMO the Sp2022 is a great gun, in 9mm or .40 though I prefer .40...also you can always buy the interchangeable barrel and convert it for around $150!

A new SIG barrel, guide spring, and magazine will only cost $150? Got links?

Had one hated it.... Sold it got a new 229 in 9mm. Found a sweet deal on a 229 police trade it in 40. Bought it too. $400 with night sights....The Sig pro didn't feel right to me. I can't explain it. Sigs are good. That model wasn't for me. The 2022 did go thru some extensions torture tests you tube them. Gl

No! I never even heard of CDNN. I'll check there now, I hope they are the 10 rounder's becasue I live in Mass and the Hi-Cap ban never went out of style here with the politicians.

I hit the range yesterday and shot another box of ammo through the 2022 and I'll repeat that the Sig 2022 in .40 is a great shooting firearm. I like the .40 and the snappyness of it isnt that bad to me. It's not as bad as the .45 in a simalar sized pistol but more so then the 9mm. In all honesty if I shoot a gun in 9mm then I shoot another in .40 I'll totally be able to tell the difference. But once I shoot another 100 rounds of the gun in .40 I just get used to it and will forget the difference untill I shoot the 9mm gun again.
The above is assuming that the actual pistol size and weight are roughy the same.
