Default Best camouflage for woodlands

Advertise Here

Hi guys,

I play a lot of airsoft at an outdoor field in the woods and am looking for just the right camo. Right now, I wear woodland BDU's, which are decent, but they're not perfect, so I'm looking to buy some hunting camo and need to figure out which pattern is the best. Hopefully, you guys can help me out.

This is what the field looks like:

-It is in the middle of the woods. Temperate, broad-leaf trees. No pine trees.
-The trees are tall and all of the leaves are like 20 feet above the ground. At ground level, where we're all running around, it's nothing but reddish-brown and faded brown dead leaves with a lot of bare, brown soil mixed in.
-There is very little green at ground level.
-There are some irregular breaks in the tree leaf cover above that let little streaks and blobs of light down onto the forest floor.

Someone told me the True Leaf pattern would be best, but I'm not sure.

Take a look at the attached pics to see what the field is like.

Thanks for any input.

Try Realtree Hardwoods it has the perfect mix of green, brown and gray with leaves.

my vote also goes to realtree. i used it for paintball when i played and was never found. we had more foliage but its still mostly brown for the bark of the tree.

either that or the german flecktarn design if there is alot of red clay in your area.

Sasquatch is the best, but Real Tree looks a little less foolish.

actually you would be suprise just how well solid black works. in the bright summer sun if your weaing solid black you can step into the shade and disapear it does work if you got heavy shadows.

but i think real tree hardwood would be the best alaround camo for that situation

I'm a big fan of cold weather, so I will show you the best winter camo I have found, as long as you are not in an area devoid of vegetation.

For your area I would say multicam but if you get a lot of vegetation I would seriously consider CADPAT.

CADPAT is amazing!

I agree with the guy who suggested Real Tree Hardwoods. You want to match the litter on the floor and the trunks of the trees more than the green of the leaves.

The real deal isn't supposed to be. It's considered a controlled product. There are companies that can manufacture the pattern but not the IR dye on the genuine stuff. I've heard though that if the CF do sell off that stuff, they wash off the dye for doing it.

If you get it, it'll be through illegal channels. If you're caught, with it and you're in Canada, get ready to go to court even if you didn't know it was genuine.

Having said that, I've heard of collectors claiming they have the real stuff.

I agree on the USMC Marpat. Doesn't seem to be available on the surplus market, though.

There is no "best" camoflauge, there are a variety of very good patterns though (as seen by the posts above). Just pick one that you like and depending on your price range.

It is a controlled item, the Marine Corps doesn't want it on the market and Marines aren't really getting rid of stuff to surplus stores after they get out.

I have 4 sets that I was issued last (2 desert 2 woodlands).

The commercial versions are good though just minus the EGA (Marine Corps emblem).

Thanks, guys. I'm going to look into Real Tree Hardwood. Sooner or later I'm going to get multicam as well.
