Does anyone know where you can get Vegan Survival food or Vegitarian Survival food. My girl is vegan and I want to have some preps for her BOB. Thanks.

Dried nuts, and fruit should do the trick. Dried beans and rice are good too.

to be honest she's going have to learn to eat whatever is available. I know that's probably not helpful and I'm not trying to be a prick but...

Vegan's barely survive now as it is (have you noticed most of them only weigh like 90lbs) that's not healthy for an adult.

they're not going to survive without a grocery store and fresh produce..

Lots of prepper food is vegan to start with. Shouldn't be very hard.

They are more expensive than other places. Try honeyville, augason farms, or emergency essentials.

Start making your own soups from dry goods. I agree that in a true emergency, "vegans" could either starve or learn to eat what is available.

"No way I would eat that, it's animal flesh!" Okay, check back with me in three days.

I"m looking at ordering this set of foods, and wondered if anyone has any experience with Shelf Reliance Thrive stuff...does it taste okay?

sorry if this hijacks the thread, but I think everything in there is vegan (my wife is vegetarian), so thought it would fit.

btw, I know several vegans, and couple of vegetarians, and none of them are skinny

they eat tree bark dont they?

OK in all seriousness, you can and should dehydrate fruits and certain veggies for a well balanced meal, but I hope you realize in a SHTF sometimes there might only be meat.

I would advise getting used to that thought.

I'm sorry, I agree with the previous poster, if it gets bad enough we may have to eat what's available. For religious reasons, some days I eat a "vegan" diet, but in case of serious emergency, that would not be possible.

Nuts, lentils, dehydrated pasta and olive oil. It's very easy to get a lot of calories on a vegan diet.

Well, I know a LOT of vegans that look like they eat KFC for six meals each day. Seriously, you'd think they had a solid diet of bacon drippings, by the look of them. Just because they don't eat meat doesn't mean they don't take in a ton of sugar and carbs and fat.

A fanatical commitment to a given lifestyle can often blind people to the dangers of it.

Mike Tyson is and has been a Vegan now for some time; he doesn't weigh 90 lbs, lol.

During the Great Depression, people didn't eat meat on a daily basis. I suspect that will happen again if things go to worse.

Costco sells "Food for Health" brand vegetarian emergency supply food buckets. The bucket is the size of a 5 gallon pail or thereabouts. It is $94.99, has a 20 year shelf life, and has 275 servings. Keep in mind, these are small servings, and if this is the same as their other offerings, it will have to be supplemented with other foods. It's mostly soup, veggies and rice, pasta dishes, and oatmeal, with some whey milk.

In real life, it's probably a lot less than 275 servings or meals. One of Costco's vendors got in trouble a couple of years ago for advertising that one of their buckets would last for a certain numbers of days, when the calorie count was very low, so check the calorie count and plan accordingly. However, it's a good start in a small package. It's on their website. Costco has a lot of similar offerings for a good price - check them out.
