How are they available on base? Just curious as I didn't know if they are for sale.
Funny story about MREs. I had a bunch in storage and they were getting on in years. I asked a homeless shelter if they wanted them. They said they couldn't use them even though they were not past the expiration date. Go figure- they could have given one or two to each person and wouldn't have to feed them again for a day or two. So I asked a Boy Scout leader and he grabbed them all. The scouts loved them on their camp trip. |

When i went to combat readiness school we had to buy our own mres, I asked if they were available anytime for purchase. The Cadre said yeah he could hook us up. Also I could buy them from my unit. I would have definitely taking he mres if the homeless shelter didnt want them |

Go to
www.costco.com and type in the word "Emergency" and 67 items will appear... Also at Walmart in the Sporting Goods section, MTN House is available with meals from $5-7 for a single package if that helps.. |

Go to a restaurant supply and get an account. Get a DBA for 30 bucks at your county clerk if you have to have a business.
Better quality than supermarkets and prices can be less than half. For me Hamburger is $4 to $4.5 a # at the grocery and $1.89 at the supply. Meat alone will make it worth it. Dehydrate and vac pac for a fraction of mountain house. 100# bag of rice $15.00 a 100# beans $9.00 You can get a years supply of food for $200.00 and then supplement. All in all a prepper HAS to have an account at their restaurant supply. It makes Sam's prices look like Trader Joes. Of course check your prices so you don't get a suprise- they will sometimes have a bad price on things too. Restaurant Depot is a decent one, not the cheapest- but lots of locations across the US and a website to find a close one. Sysco, and Ginsberg are two more- but not the cheapest. Some will even deliver. Mac |
